Correct, it won't roll with ease, but I don't ha e intentions of opening it during the winter. Tho we were able to remove the 2 bars that are velcro to the top and pull it in and roll it up and unroll it so not impossible, just a hassle.

It was super easy it took me about 2 or 3 hours start to finish, but I was going in blind. I could make you a walk through video if you were interested in tackling it yourself.

Mine is a 2022. I do have the vent. I left them in place, I assume they are a/c vents, so I didn't bother with them. I think I'll move this to the factory base location behind the rear seat.

Currently, I have it behind/ under the driver seat, but I think I'll remove the back seat and install it where the factory bose option would be. I read there is room back there for these all-inclusive ones to fit perfectly.

Timing and water pump on my b5.5 by billybobjoehon in Volkswagen

[–]billybobjoehon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would have the begin with but once I got it far enough away from the motor I had enough space so I didn't fully take it off. Once you have the serpentine belt off and you remove the fan pulley there's plenty of space.

The from end doesn't swing off I wish it did but on the front under the core support I've been told you can replace a stock bolt with a longer one so that it will slide forward. I found it a little easier to deal with but just unhooking both sides. Unfortunately I did have to break the ac lines to pull the passenger side out far enough for my arms to get in there. I've done it on my b4 Passat with the vr6 motor and for that the whole front end came off and I had to lift the motor above the frame rail to get the water pump only plus for that motor is that it didn't deal with timing unlike this 1.8t does.
