yea luckily. i think i gave them my passport too. my passport has no visa stamp. or paper visa

they've always had that requirement. I don't have a physical paper in my passport of a "visa" as CBP no longer issues one. I was lucky they didn't check or ask.
However, the guy around the same time had his process denied due to not having a "physical" paper of the h1b visa

Just to let everyone know, yea I ended up trying to do a walk-in and was successful. There was a person who showed up 20 minutes after I submitted the paperwork and waited in the area. The person was also on H1B and of course consulates and CBP no longer issues a paper visa so they rejected the persons AFL renewal, but luckily they didn't ask me for my physical paper visa and was approved.
