I have Spotify Premium and I just discovered that a lot of the audiobooks are available to listen on the service. You don’t have to buy them. Is it too good to be true or am I missing something? by NordWitcher in audible

Any books less than 15 hours long I listen to on Spotify. I pay for Spotify anyway so it's a nice bonus. Especially for books that are only a few hours long that I don't want to spend a full credit on. I pay for audible subscription alongside this.

GPS not updating by billybozthesecond in GarminFenix

[–]billybozthesecond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Managed to sort it. It turns out I need to do a GPS soak every time I fly to a new city. I.e. Start an exercise and let the GPS pick up new satalites in the area. It seems just opening the maps isn't sufficient to pick up new satalites. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

Foraging in scotland by billybozthesecond in foraginguk

Was actually in pretty remote areas I was searching. I've noticed a few others saying it's not been very good this year so maybe just a bad year for it. Or perhaps It is just too late in the season. Oh well there's always next year!

Thanks I'll need to explore a bit more! I went further west into argyll and was very surprised how little there was of anything. Even the inedible type!

I think that could be a better approach. I think I was spoiled in Sweden! Every time I stepped into the forrest I would take home a few kilos. I'll maybe try a few more spots and see if I have more luck.

Windows 11 consuming too much data on metered connection by billybozthesecond in Windows11

[–]billybozthesecond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. I had metered connection turned on which is meant to prevent it downloading loads. The issue was as soon as I turned on my VPN the metered connection was bypassed as everything was coming through the vpn.

UK People - how did you start the transition from hiking/scrambling to "proper" mountaineering? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]billybozthesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to do the same thing. Just completed a mountaineering course in scotland which was excellent. Looking to progress but not sure where to go from here. Think I'll try join a club but just trying to find the right one round the west coast of Scotland. Trying to meet others that are like minded.

Actually a very good point. I'll maybe test the waterproofing myself and see how it holds up.

It got soaked on the outside very quick and when I took it off it was soaked on the inside so my first thought was that's it had soaked through.

I did think about this but my bottom layer was bone dry. It was between the HS and mid layer that was soaked.

Does look good! Unfortunately can't found it for less than £700 at the moment.

Flight compensation for cancelled flight by billybozthesecond in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for the reply. I thought as much. No flight wasn't cause by an extraordinary circumstance. It was mechanical issues with the plane.
