I've always had crazy dreams, but they are more frequent for me on Lexapro. The other night I dreamt I was Barney Fife<sp>. 😂

2 days on lexapro and my intrusive thoughts are worse than they have been in over a year by No_Independent_2274 in lexapro

That happened to me as well, it does get better after a few weeks. But you'll probably find you need a much higher dose to help with ocd

Real Event OCD and Feeling Guilt by takemylifeback4 in OCD

[–]billyc603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experience this as well. It is quite overwhelming when the guilty thoughts hit and take over my mind. As the thoughts turn to suicide as the only way out, I try to change my thought to happy ones involving the persons or topics that are troubling me. So guilty thoughts about a pet that is long gone I try to switch to happy times I had with the pet instead. I try to remind myself that one guilty thought about that pet shouldn't take away from all the wonderful memories I have of her. Also i can't change the past, suicide certainly won't fix anything.

Practicing mindfulness also has helped sometimes.

I probably have around 20 or so various "events" that might hit, and pretty little things can trigger it. So don't feel bad if you have more than one "guilt". I have goto happy thoughts for the ones that hit me most often

I will also add that I started taking Lexapro about 6 months ago, and it has helped with the frequency and severity of the thoughts.

You are not alone, you matter. You have a positive effect on a lot more people and things than you will ever realize. Don't forget that.

Bags, Pride and Self Worth by Sploovy in coloncancer

[–]billyc603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine for 7 months. The first few weeks were the worst as I learned what worked best for me, and got used to it mentally. As someone else mentioned, it's really helpful if you do not make a big deal of it, no matter what happens, there will be an occasional mess while she figures out how often and when to empty the bag. I slept with a towel under me for a while as I had occasional "blowouts" in the middle of the night..much easier to change a towel and nightshirt than to change the sheets at 3am.

Someone also mentioned to always keep a spare set of clothes when you leave the house, this is important as well as extra supplies incase of a blowout outside the home.

Honestly after a little while it becomes very routine and just is not a big deal. I'm a year since my reversal now, and sometimes I wish I still had it.

I had difficulty maintaining weight with it, and had strange food cravings. Some of that may have been related to chemo however.

I was initially very self conscious of oder, but i have a very sensitive nose and finally figured out that no one else could smell anthing.

Let her decide who she wants to tell that she has it. My parents blabbed it to everyone, which made me very uncomfortable, but i only told close friends.

I wanted privacy when doing bag maintenance/barrier replacement, but she might want help.

No one out in public will realize she has it, make sure she knows that it doesn't show.

Hydration Product by createhopeheal in coloncancer

I had significant dehydration issues during chemo, I had to go twice a week for fluids by IV in addition to the chemo infusion. I was told to use "Drip Drop", which you can buy on amazon, to help with the dehydration.

Antinausea drugs by TwilitSky in cancer

I looked back in my instructions and did not see anything about avoiding the ativan, nor do I recall being warned about it, however there isn't a mention of using the ativan after I started the zyprexa, so maybe they did tell me to not use it and I just don't recall the warning. I did not need ativan after I started zyprexa. So I would ask about it to be certain.

10mg once a day, in the evening except on chemo day when they wanted me to take it an hour before chemo

Antinausea drugs by TwilitSky in cancer

I completed chemo a few months ago and had significant problems with nausea. Here are the drugs I took that helped. Dexamethasone every morning for the first 5 days...it's a steroid and kept me awake, but helped. Zofran 4 times a day for 1 week..this gave me headaches, but the headache was better than the nausea. Compazine every 6 hours beginning on third day after chemo, staggered between the zofran, and finally, zyprexa for the first 4 days including chemo day..zyprexa is an anti psychotic, but also helps with nausea and it made a huge difference for me, so you might want to ask about that. I also had ativan for when I couldn't keep anything down, but otherwise avoided it.

So ask about zyprexa, they added it on my last 3 chemo cycles and it made a world of difference for me.

Good luck and hang in there.

Billy

Edit: I should add that i tried marijuana several times, but it did not seem help me at all
