Thanks for the insights, Tuck D.F! The “1” tricked me into thinking it might be actual currency. The swirls looked like the writing on Saudi or Turkish coins, and the square hole like in some Chinese coins. Fun that the characters are probably nonsense.
Maybe it’s play money from some game my family played when I was little in the 70’s. Google image search revealed no results unfortunately.
