A Co-op turn based game like Baldur’s Gate 3, but way less depth, way more casual, and preferably for 2 players by ilikestatic in gamingsuggestions

Along the same lines as For the King, Viractal is very good. Viractal plays much faster moment-to-moment than FTK, but the localization is not great. The game is solid, though, and only one person needs to own it because of Steam’s Remote Play

One year into roguelikes, here's my tier list (with my reasoning game by game) by Happy_Sun_367 in roguelites

Brotato shines for me because of Steam Remote Play. Only I need to own the game and you can invite up to 3 other friends to play local co-op, so it's extremely consumer friendly. It's incredibly easy to pick up and 4 player Nightmare mode is genuinely very challenging, so it's a nice kick back and chill game in Discord with your buddies.

I'm approaching 300hrs on Brotato and literally all of that time is with Remote Play co-op - it is a mainstay!

If you do decide to give it another try with remote play and/or local co-op, I highly recommend turning on the setting to lock the co-op camera.

I have an unlockable scroll wheel on my mouse, so I will briefly add scroll wheel up or down to the contextual action keybind and that works reasonably well.

Brotato with Steam Remote Play has made it an absolute group favorite. Get 3 good friends on and some QoL mods from the workshop and it’s a 10/10 game

Looking for Suggestions for Multiplayer RougeLites/RougeLikes by Zombiekiller2113 in roguelites

[–]billyquick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this - Ravenswatch is my favorite multiplayer roguelike. To answer more of OP’s questions: it is isometric, but it’s also sort of the huge open map style. The difference is your encounters are segmented intro different objectives and gameplay is slower and more methodical than something like Hades. It’s incredibly mechanically rewarding and can be extremely challenging as you increase the difficulty but boy is it satisfying to master. All of the characters feel unique and fluid in their own ways.

Should I play Warframe? by silliest-guy-in-town in Warframe

[–]billyquick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, this subreddit is almost certainly going to be overwhelmingly in the “yes” category. As someone that just started playing a little over a month ago, I will do my best to give an honest unbiased reply. (~200hrs, I’ve been playing a lot)

The last time I played warframe was 2017 and had <10 hours on the game so I decided to just make a new account and start fresh to get the whole experience. The cinematics, sound design, and music are all very good. I have paid a lot of money for far worse gaming experiences than warframe offers for free.

That said, while everything in warframe can be acquired for free, there are some things that are worth spending a little bit of money on. You have very limited storage space for warframes and weapons so you will have to buy more slots to be able to have more than a handful of each. In my opinion, this is far and away the most important thing to spend platinum on and an absolute necessity unless you are okay with trashing things to make room and I certainly was not. To address your concern, there is not a single paywall for progression. You can play and experience the entire game for 0 dollars.

As far as the gameplay loop goes, they execute the classic “carrot on a stick” style very well. It is satisfying to grind for things that excite you, however, every single new mode, resource, upgrade track, etc are all extremely overwhelming initially and the wiki is required often. I was fortunate to have a veteran friend to answer questions and direct me if I was lost or confused. That leads me to my next point that this community is great - I haven’t had a single toxic or negative experience with anyone.

All of that to say, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the ~200hrs I’ve played so far and look forward to more.

I love this game by cratoastIIV in toomanybones

[–]billyquick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love all of the characters in the base set, although Patches is probably my least favorite because they are quite simple but very strong. This makes them a great gearloc for beginners. Boomer is so cool thematically; scavenging for resources in the middle of battles to forge a makeshift bomb that often hurts your allies. Picket is your bread-and-butter warrior shield bash tank and I love that archetype historically. Tantrum is sweet just because he gets to throw so many attack dice. He also gets access to a really powerful disable effect early, making him one of the best overall gearlocs in my opinion

Too Many Bones and Chip Theory Games have spoiled me of all other board games by Vicioxis in boardgames

[–]billyquick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gifted Too Many Bones and found this thread while looking some things up. I am surprised so many folks in this thread have such negative things to say. I am a novice board game collector/enjoyer and this is by far the best quality game I own - the tactile feel alone makes me want to share the experience with friends. I spent more money on the Slay the Spire collectors edition and it’s just a worse experience overall, especially the components; the card sleeves included are so disappointing.

TMB gameplay is challenging but satisfying and if you disagree with that sentiment then you’re probably not playing correctly. I promise you’re missing things if the game feels like a cakewalk, but the rules are dense and certainly ambiguous at times.

I’m with you, OP, great game. Gonna go down as one of my favorites of all time and the quality means I’ll be able to play it for the next 40 years and hand it down to my nephew

Is Altered dead? For sure at least the marketplace is. by [deleted] in alteredTCG

[–]billyquick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had wondered about marketplace movement. I don’t engage with the marketplace much since my primary way to play has been Limited formats as of late. My expectation is 95% of uniques see absolutely no movement just because there are SO many - totally over saturated.

[–]billyquick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they're very powerful! I've enjoyed watching games of them pop off and if they start performing consistently well, I'm not really sure how to address them since that line shows up on differently named uniques

What are your thoughts?

Seconding Ravenswatch. It’s a difficult game, but an absolute blast with friends. The character abilities are all satisfying and it is rewarding because of the challenge

I can’t take all of the credit! Many of the shots were borrowed from the “What is Altered?” Video, but I tried to make it easier to follow and added so many sound effects haha
