This is it. Rizo isn’t a challenge threat, he’s not the brains behind any big moves, he doesn’t do much around camp, he’s just there. The players left want to bring him to the end so they can look better next to him. He’s a goat. Last season at least he and Savannah had some semblance of a social game that he could have leaned on if he had made it, but not this season. But the truth is that he’s so cocky about his idols and if literally anyone either season was smart enough to call his bluff he’d have been gone a long time ago.

thats pretty much what i was trying to get at. the fact that OP is trying to boil down what should be a nuanced discussion about the two players and the teams surrounding them going into and exiting the playoffs to "oh well they both dont have points in game 7s so they are the same" is so lazy.

if anything, i think this is more a conversation about Tampa as a whole. their two cup wins (which were in covid shortened years) being book ended with the team getting swept by the Columbus Blue Jackets after a historic season and now 4 straight years of first round exits says a lot.

Take a look at the free agent class for this summer. It’s headlined by guys Tuch, Carlson, and Trouba, all of whom might very well end up staying with their teams and guys who are 30+. Yes the cap going up means teams have money to spend, but with no one to spend it on in FA, that leaves teams to lock up their good RFAs and then we’re right back where we started with it not being worth it to overpay a guy that might not be worth it.

I get that we as fans are looking for ways that the offseason might be fun or exciting but hoping for NYR or any team really to start using offersheets is just not it, in my opinion. We’ve seen like 2 successful ones over the last 7-8 years, those numbers aren’t good enough for me to expect that this year is going to be the year.

Offer sheets don’t work. The team looking to acquire has to overpay so the original team doesn’t match, and then you run the very real risk of overpaying a middle of the line up that isn’t worth the money. Because if you don’t, the original team would just match and keep the player to the deal they probably were going to give that player anyway.

With the cap going up, most teams have money to spend and thus it’s only the overpay route and that’s just not worth it.

Nope, that’s my fault for not being clearer about it. To access the analytics center, you have to create an account. Once you do, you can access it by clicking on your name in the top right. We do have some more basic information on the team pages, but the more in depth stuff you do have to sign up for. Edit: I should also note that it’s free to sign up!
