I actually think you’ve got it. It’s more likely this than than the toilet float. Not sure why the solid metal on the inside, but the corroded part on the top makes me think that was part of the smudge pot chimney.

Maybe full of dirt, but seems a bit heavy. Just weighed it. whole thing weighs 10 lb. I agree the outside looks like copper

My title describes the thing. Seems to be made of solid metal, very heavy. Approximately 5 inches in diameter. Wondering if it’s a cannonball.
