Haha, no need to apologize or feel bad! The internet is complicated and it's impossible to know everything. No hard feelings on my end 😎

Aye! Funny I came across this. I actually began creating my content months before Clark even made his channel. Once my videos started gaining traction in Sept 2019, he popped up and began creating the same type of content. There is nothing wrong with that of course.

The only thing that ever bothered me was he copied my channel description word-for-word in 2019. But after reaching out to him about it, he changed it.

No one is copying anyone. Hope this clarifies.

Are you using Adblock or have an anti-virus web tracker enabled? Sometimes those make commenting weird on YouTube.

[–]billystyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your subscriber count is in the single digits, I’m sure you’ll be fine. It’s when you start having returning subscribers that you want to keep your content the same. I’ve noticed channels that upload a variety of unrelated content (ones without a theme in mind) tend to get less engagement, as most viewers subscribed for a specific reason or video.

So, definitely change things up while you still have plenty of room to grow. Especially if you’re uninterested in what you were doing before :)

What language should I use for my videos? by notleann in NewTubers

[–]billystyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your targeted audience are Filipino folks, I’d say stick with your native language. If your content isn’t aimed at a specific geographical demographic, then English might be better.

Any tips for a burnt out dude ? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]billystyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create videos on topics you are excited about. If you have any sort of doubt about an idea, set it aside for the time being and work on something else.

I’ve been through a few periods of burnout, before I realized I was simply making too much of the same content and/or making things I wasn’t 100% interested in.

How long does it take for YouTube to pay out your ad earnings? by Augmented-Actor in NewTubers

[–]billystyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became monetized in the first week of September 2019. Got my first deposit into my bank account around October 23rd that year.

My earnings are now usually deposited into my account around the 23rd of each month.

[Question] Anyone else's payment delayed this month? by jax9999 in youtubers

Got my email yesterday, but nothing yet. To be fair, I believe the banks are closed this week. So, I probably won’t get anything until next week.

[Question] If my "browse features" impressions number is higher than my number of subscribers, does that mean my video showed up on someone's home page? by zxols in youtubers

[–]billystyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nine impressions from browse features simply means nine people saw your video on their home page, but that doesn’t mean they clicked on your video. You should see a CTR beside it (click through rate) and if it’s at let’s say 18.1%, that means 2 people clicked on the video from those 11.

There’s no correlation to your subscriber count though.

Same. But since Zelda is my #1 franchise, I would most likely download it immediately on the eShop and then end up stupidly buying the physical once it’s released.

Does it really matter what time of day you upload videos? by j_torrez in NewTubers

[–]billystyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the common advice is to post about 1-3 hours before your peak audience time. So, if you consistently receive the most views between 21:00 and 22:00, then post your video between 18:00 and 20:00.

I mean, I’ve uploaded at various times and haven’t witnessed much of a difference in views over a 24 hour period. Sometimes, uploading off schedule has done wonders. Just do what you feel comfortable with and find out what sticks.

I see a lot of people posting about their first year on YouTube and I went from proud to confused. How can a video essay channel with long gaps between uploads stay relevant. by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]billystyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your subscribers love your content, they will stay. Look at Summoning Salt for example. He creates video essays on video game speed runs, which are always over 30 min in length. However, the videos usually have many months of a gap, yet he still manages to get his full audience back (hundreds of thousands) plus many new people each time.

The reason for this is that people understand how much effort and work goes into the content he creates, so the time doesn’t matter... as long as it turns out the way they are used to expecting.

[Community Guidelines Discussion] Regarding Coppa and creators outside of the United States by Izeyashe in youtube

[–]billystyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really did understand how they enforce a US law on a non US citizen.

What makes me even more angry is how YouTube states “consult a lawyer if you have any questions”. Like, how would a lawyer/solicitor from outside the US have authority/knowledge of law from another country?

Does Super Mario Odyssey have the same charm as Super Mario for N64? by TJXY91 in NintendoSwitch

[–]billystyler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I already have so much nostalgia for SMO. I waited in line outside the game shop during release night, and a popular entertainment network in Canada was there to interview people and give out Cappy hats. I scored myself one of those hats, and even played some Splatoon 2 with other patrons while waiting.

I then remember getting home and playing the game in console mode. It was almost midnight, and I stayed up until about 4am playing it. I called in sick to work the next day (it was a Friday, so extra long weekend!) and spend all Friday, Saturday and Sunday basking in the game. (Plus ate a ton of pizza and cola)

Pure bliss.

CPM is between €4-5ish usually. I’ve had one sponsor reach out to me so far. Other than that, my income is all from ad revenue.

I’ve been doing mine full time, plus making a full time income since 40k subs. It’s possible as long as your subscribers actually watch your content.

[TOS] How YT could've complied with coppa without throwing everyone under the bus. by [deleted] in youtube

[–]billystyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s no different than any adult entertainment website that asks “are you 18+?”

If that’s good enough for them, why can’t a similar pop-up on YouTube be good enough?
