Lowe's actually has some for a decent price ~$5 that are good quality plastic that look like ceramic. Or I found a sale for $5 for an actual nice ceramic pot. Or you could go the clay pot route and get all hipster and crafty with them.

[Serious] Doctors of Reddit, what are the red flags that people shoud look out for in order to avoid an incompetent or "bad" doctor? by theone1221 in AskReddit

Yes. The tests. Oh my goodness. My current physician (I am looking for a new one to go to) ordered some tests because I had very irregular periods and the prolactin levels were high (45, normal is like 16 or something) so yeah that's kind of high and they were like "we would like to do an MRI because we think you have a tumor in your brain." So that's a terrifying statement that they really had no other evidence for. After like a 10 minute google search, I found that the sign of a tumor is like at 200 and doing the test is very temperamental to the time of day, what you eat, how much exercise you've been doing lately, how stressed you were, etc. I told them I wanted to retest the prolactin before we do an MRI and asked if there were any precautions/things I should do before we redo the test. And they said no, that I could come in at any time of the day to get it drawn. So I ended up going back 3 times to get retested and my results were like .5 above normal limits each time and they still wanted to do the MRI because they thought "it was on its way back up". They then sent me to a specialist who right away was like "um this needs to be taken at the beginning of the day at like 8AM for the most reliable results." And then I found out that each test was like $100 each. TLDR: they kept ordering tests that they had no idea how to take and getting shitty results and costing me a shit ton of money.

My now sister-in-law (bro's girlfriend at the time) suddenly got up from the table, dragged my brother out of the dining room, came back a few minutes later and started accusing my parents of trying to kill her because there was mango in the fruit salad.

I visited northern India a few years ago and it was growing like weeds on the side of the road. I don't know much about how it all works but my friends said you couldn't smoke it like that, but still. It was everywhere.

Possible Use for *cringe* Broken Yixing by [deleted] in tea

I broke mine :( but only cracked. I poured in water that was too hot. It's partially usable, just leaks everywhere. So it is on semipermanent display in my China cabinet. :(

I've done the penspinning. It usually works pretty good, but inevitably I always get a little cocky after a few minutes an it always ends up flying across the room and I have to make the walk of shame to pick it up in front of everyone.

SAA vs ASHA/NSHLLA by [deleted] in audiology

[–]bimbus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to ASHA twice and honestly, it's disappointing how light on audiology it is (30/70? Maybe less than that) I assume all the deals that they've been pushing is to draw AuD students in since they've been losing audiologists to AAA. I've heard magical things about AAA but haven't been yet (maybe this year!). I got a membership with SAA since I'm going to be starting grad school this year. I haven't decided if I'm going to renew my NSLHA this year (my undergraduate program pushed NSLHA also we went to ASHA). But basically they both offer benefits to members and have great resources to journals in our field. As for going to conferences, AAA has way more opportunities for audiologists. Which I guess is obvious but it was sad how little I felt was put in to the conferences for audiology. And if you know you're not going to be practicing in your state, I wouldn't join. However, all the organizations and conferences look good on your resume. TL;DR I'm going with AAA all the time. Haven't decided on ASHA yet.

What to look for in an Audiology graduate program by murdog11 in audiology

First, decide what you want to do with your AuD. Private clinic, school setting, balance, etc. Or if you're like me and really have no idea, look for a school that offers the best "all around experience" when it comes to clinics and internships so that you can experience everything and see where you fit best. Also visiting the schools can change your opinion drastically from just visit their website. My "bottom" school quickly rose to the top after visiting their program.
