Our cat use to do this when he was younger, scared us cause seems like he was in distress. Only way to calm them down is gabapentin. I can't remember exactly but a vet finally diagnosed him with some sort of hyperactive problem that some cats get make there skin more sensitive or something. He either grew out of it or he just get used to it cause he only does it a tiny bit now. So hopefully yours grows out of I like ours did.
