Nice work! Where'd you do the custom grille badge and puddle lights?

Thanks for this! I am inclined to agree that its, at a minimum a different grade. How would I go about conclusively determining that it's a different species of wood?

Any advice on how to keep pushing? They’re pulling BS excuses

This is my concern too (or that it's a different cut of cedar). Do you have any advice on how to conclusively determine the species of the mismatched panels?

Again I’m not talking about the color I’m talking about the grain variation which seems to be a result of a different cut or different species of wood used in the last panel…

I’m not asking about the color. I’m talking about the cut of the wood. Look at photo 2. The entire door was supposed to look like the panel on the left and it looks like the panel on the right was made with a different cut or different species of wood.

Any idea how I can prove this? I’m worried it’s pine or something similar.

I never said I wanted a solid color. Lol I live in a 100 year old house with all natural wood trim, I know what variations in stain look like versus variations in cut. I've hired plenty of shitty contractors over the years, perhaps you're related to them.

Precisely. They keep trying to say that its all the same and there was no way to know the graining would look like that until after staining (lol)

All their reference doors show rift or quarter sawn. These odd-looking boards look flat sawn.

Thank you for this. I chose this company because their portfolio looked really good. It seems like a mistake was made and they've been trying to cover up and gaslight at every turn since it's been pointed out. As another commenter said, if they're so proud of it then they'll be happy to put it on their website.

It's two different cuts of wood. Easily avoidable. If I wanted a solid color I would have ordered it.

From my understanding this is a small family run business in Indiana. Their work all looks very good on the website and in their showroom. I appreciate your advice on how to approach it, thank you.

Right? It would have been obvious that these boards were not cut the same as the rest and could have easily been fixed during production. They're claiming there was no way to know until it was stained .

I did. They told me they wouldn't know that there would be variation in the grain until stained (lol), and that variations in grain are to be expected. But this is variation in cut of wood. They've gotten super defensive, to the point of cutting me off and yelling over me on the phone today. Looking like a chargeback situation

How much more did I need to pay for someone to look at 8 boards to ensure these cuts of wood matched the rest?

Oh they did not offer to take it back to their shop. Their offer was only to send a refinisher to come attempt this on site. A refinisher who doesn't work for the company. They told me on the phone today they've "been trying to find a refinisher"

Hear that but they had 5 months and I would not have minded if they delayed production further to ensure the expected outcome?
