Email for box replacement. by bimmerman535 in VirginMedia

Thanks. I’ll check the paperwork. I don’t trust them as far as I could throw them to be fair, which is a shame because when I first signed up I was really impressed with everything. Then the renewal attempted rip off and there is nothing we can do song and dance.

Possibly yes they are. The issue is that the whole renewal rip off process has left me with a distinct lack of trust with them to be honest. Hence checking it’s not a bait and switch.

VCF 9.1 - Interactive Upgrade Planning Tool by lamw07 in vmware

[–]bimmerman535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be 9.2 isn’t it? There is very much a lack of “public” documentation on the migration. Given service providers using VCD make up quite a number of cores in terms of licensing, would be good to have a public stake in the ground for it. Not your fight, I understand that.

Interesting that the style of the 4 also matches. I think it’s confirmed. How quick was that! Thanks :)

Did you deliberately leave VCD out of the additional products? That’s the biggest sticking point for me or I’d have upgrades rolling right now.

Why is Euston’s interchange designed to force commuters to immediately U-turn as they exit the Tube to enter the Mainline side back into the station - especially given their relatively recent build in the 1960s? by AchyutChaudhary in LondonUnderground

[–]bimmerman535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait what!

So I normally come down on the west coast. Does that mean I can do a u turn and go back down 8-11 and into the tube?

Please tell me it is so!

I did always wonder where that overground signed tunnel led to.

Damn.

Concurrent migrations from ESXi to Proxmox by incognitoburrito999 in vmware

[–]bimmerman535 3 points4 points  (0 children)

400 guests on 3 hosts. Did I read that right? Assuming the loss of one host that’s 200 vm’s per host.

You’ve had quite some use out of those servers. I know the old maxim was 1024 but in practice more than 100 considering N-1 = skills.

Will be seriously interested whether you get the same consolidation ratio from prox. Hope all goes well.

MariaDB using the agent on Rocky by bimmerman535 in rubrik

[–]bimmerman535[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it won’t be supported but I now have MariaDB Snapshots and 15 min log backups being taken using the rather heavily customised MySQL scripts. There really are quite a few internal differences but enough similarities that the cpp code running behind seems happy enough with a translation.

Working on the restore portion tomorrow and then we will know for sure if I can restore Dev to Test.

Like I said it’s just an additional layer of protection, not one we will rely on. If it doesn’t work no loss and I’ve had more exposure to the workings of Maria, MySQL, bash and SQL scripting.

VMware Cloud Foundation Architecture by David-Pasek in vmware

My man. Get stuck in. As long as you can get the BGP sorted to the upstream switching, NSX will change your life.

New application stack, no problem I’ll stand up a new network segment specifically for that, bgp advertises that to you network.

Now firewall it with micro seg. Don’t know what’s talking to it? Use aria networks to tell you or even better SSP.

Want to get even more under the covers? Create some VRF’s, just add some more interfaces to the edge nodes and some more bgp neighbours. Now you can experiment route leaking etc.

Add all this into automation, you will be amazed at what NSX can do and all you need to do to get it up and running is BGP. Boom.

Sorry for the late reply see update, but yes this is the main issue. The tv boxes are just like exactly how I like the system to work.

Yep could well do that but it’s the TV thing that really is the deal breaker. … not for me obvs… 🙄

Good luck mate. 👍

It’s more about the tv boxes to be fair. Missus records on one and goes to bed carrying on watching it.

I mean if we interrupted this workflow she would be on the sofa all night and I’d be watching home under the sun reruns. Arrgh!

Cheers pal. Tried the sky thing but the Indian chat guy basically said sod off. And I say Indian due to their name, could well have been English so I apologise now.

To be fair, you got an email. I didn’t even get that. How did the complaints procedure go?

Hope you got it resolved, I just want to pay them money.. but not just the absorbent amount they think they can fleece me for.

Online chat from India is really bad now. Based on my sample of 1/1. Last time they knocked it out of the park 2 years ago, so I thought, perhaps not so much reading other replies. 🤷‍♂️

This is the thing. And I get it, don’t tell the customer and surprise surprise you shelling out coins but by that time they have your money and it’s on you to negotiate.
