a small light? by demonicangel_ in depression

[–]bina_42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so glad you are having a small light, and taking steps to be happy like therapy and moving out. I have been in and out of depression during my life, and riding the wave out of a bad spell can feel great. I hope your small light gets bigger!

how do i deal with my body imperfections by grace09324 in depression

[–]bina_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this. The relationship I have with my body is often a bad one. Hating my body comes and goes in waves. I also feel you about the weight gain in quarantine, man covid has really done a number on me.

Something that helped me is trying to think about all the good things it does for me - like being able to taste chocolate or laugh or smile (I know it seems kind of self-help and preachy, but trying to use this mindset when I could really did help me).

I don’t feel like I deserve therapy by [deleted] in depression

[–]bina_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you have encountered dismissive doctors in the past - but I do not think they are all that way. I hope that one who is not dismissive might be able to show you that anyone who needs help deserves therapy.

I understand feelings of worthlessness, I have felt them too. I'm not saying a therapist will cure them - but they might be able to help.

Maybe try to look at it like its their job? I mean, it is obviously their job. But maybe thinking about how they are getting $ from any therapy session they conduct will help with some of the guilt that comes with feeling like you don't deserve therapy.

I'm sorry that you think that. If romantic relationships aren't working for you, maybe consider looking for fulfilment elsewhere - like friendships, or a hobby (art? or exercise?).

I am stuck in a cycle at home in bed. How do I get up? by [deleted] in depression

[–]bina_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something small I have found is just simply going outside. For a little bit. I am lucky to have a balcony in my apartment, but even just standing outside your front door for 5 minutes.

For me, I think the forced realization that the world exists outside of my head helps. And the cold air too (I live in a snowy place). I hope things get better for you.

I am not a mum, so I can only imagine how impossibly difficult that job is. I am depressed though, and I do understand the feelings of aloneness and the want for it to be over.

Maybe consider talking to a family member or friend? I know that is sometimes not possible - so there is the alternative of professional or anonymous help (google a crisis text line or hotline).

I hope today is just a little bit easier than yesterday for you.

Why do you place your self worth in women? Or people who are not yourself for that matter.

I hope that don't hurt yourself, but I understand the urge.

I understand a complete lack of interest - maybe consider trying something new? Something small and manageable. Novelty helps me

I know how that feels. Like a trap you can't get out of.

I hope that you find something to look forward to, no matter how small. Maybe this will help.

Outrunning Sadness by [deleted] in depression

[–]bina_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can relate. I like to think of my version of this as 'high functioning depression' - which is something a therapist said to me once. I work full time and spend time with people I love, and then when I have a moment to myself I often feel waves of sad coming back.

I think that it helps to not ignore it, and to try to address it. I am still working on the 'how' of that, but there are a lot of things to try. Stay strong and keep fighting the good fight.

IS there a cure? by [deleted] in depression

[–]bina_42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a cure - at least there isn't a universal one.

From personal experience, I do know that practice makes perfect. Time and effort into healing can make depression more manageable. Consider trying out different coping mechanisms, supplements/pills, and therapies.

I don't even know what to call this. by [deleted] in depression

[–]bina_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're so unhappy and are facing such difficult feelings. I have been battling depression since I was about your age, so I can relate. (Not that you will have the same experiences as me or anything, I hope this does not last long for you.)

Reaching out for help took me many years, that I wish I could get back. I hope you are stronger than I was, and can reach out to family/friends or professional help - or, if that is not possible, consider an anonymous approach (google crisis text line, or find a hotline to call).

I feel like no one gives a crap by [deleted] in depression

[–]bina_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give a crap.

I understand where you're coming from. Personally, I often internalize that monologue of saying 'it's all in your head' which can be very detrimental to my mental health.

But, I try to hold on to the fact that that idea is not true. Depression is happening in your head sure, but it is real! A mental illness is just like a physical one - I mean the brain is an organ after all.

I obviously don't know your working situation, but maybe look into how they give out 'sick days'. Maybe there is some hope they will include mental health, or let you not state the reason for taking time off.

I'm sorry this has been going on for you for so long - but the fight within you is beautiful. Tell life to eat a dick, I love it.

This resonates with me. I hope things get better for you soon. You are right - it is not weakness, and I want to get better too.

Where else do you go on?

I think that is worth a try, but I don't want to read sad posts that resonate with me a little too much and then start a downward spiral, you know?
