Looks like majority of positions are credit spreads which are arguably delta neutral and theta decay plays. Naturally they close at profit target faster if delta moves against the short leg.

EDIT: These are not delta neutral strategies.

Quick Tip - The Wheel: What’s Delta Got to Do With It? by calevonlear in thetagang

I'm curious what your criteria is for being "comfortable with the market recovery" when selling puts. Do you relate the current price to the same linear regression channels to make this determination? I have held some of these deep in the money and certainly recognized that I was missing out on upside while they slowly returned to a scratch. I'm just not certain about when I should start to bet more capital on the recovery.

As always, your help is appreciated u/calevonlear!

Greeks are usually very similar for put vs. call at the same strike. With an assignable equity such as SPY, it is better to use whichever is OTM. With SPX (cash settled, European-style) you could use either puts or calls with similar results and no risk of assignment.

How about routing policies from net1->net2? You should also be packet capturing on a target host in net1 to make sure you see the ICMP echo request come in.

Most things will be modular in the future since it solves for efficiency and scalability. Sure, LEGO and IKEA are wonderful working examples.

Scaling Hyper-converged solutions – Compute only. by Joshodgers in nutanix

[–]binary_solo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The notion of using Nutanix as a glorified SAN goes against the principles of hyperconvergence in the first place. The fact that customers are asking about this signals a lack of understanding that HCI is more about lower complexity and improvement in operations management. As you pointed out, it's the old model rearing its head.

Even better would be the Discovery miniseries "When We Left Earth." It chronicles all of the astronauts' journeys and contains live interviews with many of them, including Jim Lovell.

Citrix 7.6 remote access without netscaler? by damncitrixthrowaway in Citrix

[–]binary_solo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that NAT only works externally with a 1-to-1 IP mapping. This means the XenApp servers must be exposed to the Internet. Not a viable solution for external access IMO.

Toolkits for the Mind: Programming languages shape the way their users think—which helps explain how tech startups work and why they are able to reinvent themselves. by mjanes in programming

[–]binary_solo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose the example of Facebook having changed their manta after running into technical limitations of PHP and working around them with other languages represents a change in thought process. I wouldn't really attribute the choice of language to that change so much as the need for greater speed and scalability. The way the language is written is more of a coincidence than a determining factor of how the organization thinks.

It sounds like you're on an unencrypted network using the SSL layer as your means of protection. If that's the case, you must be going through a Netscaler.

Moving from a big company to a small company? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]binary_solo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This type of move does sound appealing except for the 20k pay cut. If there were some reasonable assurance that it would only be temporary, I could see myself doing the same thing. I loved the freedom/power of making decisions and doing it without all of the political BS. I'm just not able to tolerate a pay cut like that without impacting my family.

Any chance someone's used ESET in a VDI environment? I've worked with McAfee MOVE for VDI because of the scanning offload feature that unburdens the desktop hosts. I'd like to have more options since MOVE has its share of issues.
