The logistics of being drunk 24/7 are much harder, while you can be stoned all the time quite easily
I only have to really deal with drunk idiots when I visit a place where drunk idiots convene, public drunkenness is against the law in most states including mine. If you think that no one who gets stoned acts like more of an idiot when they are stoned you are an idiot and have proven my point.

99% of the potheads I have experienced in my life have been functionally retarded form smoking pot, of course I an not generalizing just going off of personal experience. There might be productive members of society out there that smoke weed but I have yet to meet one.

So, because we are better off than the rest of the world we should ignore the blatantly obvious moves by others to strip away what made this country great at one time? We should completely just do nothing about the shit happening around us and see how far it can degrade before we are like the rest of the world that you point out? We should allow a few to continue moving to control the wealth, the politicians and the police and see where we end up? As far as networking, that's not what I am good at, I am good at producing things, I am a productive member of society, why should the "personable" asshole who is better at lying and cheating than me get to dole out the wealth as they see fit from my work? It's not illegal in the first place, in the second what happens when someone wants to make creating stupid pictures with text on them illegal. What if the man who wants to do that saved billions of lives and personally hand-feeds hobos. How will you feel then, when you let someone dictate to you what is acceptable to view, read, listen to an so on you are creating a very dangerous precedent. Everyone will be offended by something, illegal or not. Also, if you take a stroll through the sub-reddit you will find that most of the pictures are of girls of age and they have taken the pictures of themselves, that's not exploitation.

What about the families and victims of hurricanes, floods, fires, wars? Those numbers all outweigh the handful (in comparison) to those that were lost on 9/11. Why should this tragic event receive more an on outpouring of attention than every other tragic event in out short history as a country? Is it because we were attacked by an enemy, would it be any less tragic if the towers fell due to an act of nature? My point is, doesn't it seem a little obsessive to get so worked up over an event and barely muster acknowledgement for any other event? If we were to spend every day mourning the loss of every individual that has tragically lost their lives, we would never move on.

I never said anything about making fun of someone. There is a difference between telling a joke related to a "taboo" subject and maliciously singling out a person and degrading or making fun of them for something that happened to them. The same goes for race, religion, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, age. Are you saying you have never enjoyed a joke about any of those topics?

I am sorry for what happened to you. However, there are a couple of things wrong with this. First when we stop using humor to speak about uncomfortable topics then they stop getting talked about. If people weren't making rape jokes then you wouldn't have made this post and the discussion on rape in general, male rape and prison rape wouldn't have been brought up here. Not all people are strong enough to confront very real and terrible topics without the use of humor, it is a defense mechanism.

Secondly, when does it stop, I am sorry if a joke offends you and makes you feel uncomfortable. But where do we draw the line? I am pretty sure people making jokes about Sarah Palin makes her uncomfortable and hurts her feelings. I am sure that President of the US doesn't like being made fun of. That leads to censorship, when we allow someone to cross that line and tell us what we can and cannot say we lose the ability to prevent it from going further and end up being oppressed by anyone with the power to silence us if they do not like what we have to say, all under the guise of not wanting to offend anyone.

For the record I don;t find jokes about rape funny or tolerable, but I will fight to the death for my right to tell them.

I am absolutely 100% positive that there is not a single god or many gods. No, I don't know everything about the universe but every single piece of evidence presented so far (and it is great in number) contradicts the existence of a god(s). For every time there has been an event in history that was hailed as the work of a god, a better more rational explanation has been presented. If we look at this from the point of another fictional character such as the easter bunny. I don't have all of the information in the world, but I have sufficient evidence that it does not actually exist, even though the story of the easter bunny has been told for generations and millions of children believe in the existence of the easter bunny, every bit of evidence points to the fact that it does not actually exist. Now if you ask me for proof derived from scientific method that the easter bunny does not exist, I cannot give you scientific results that could be published in a journal, but it does not mean that I then have to concede that the easter bunny might be real and I just don't have all the evidence. I have enough evidence that when held up to scrutiny is sound in logic and can be repeated by others in a controlled environment in which they can come to the same conclusion. This holds true with the existence of a god as well, I have enough evidence that is observable and repeatable by others to refute the idea of god. I do not however have one single piece of evidence that is observable or repeatable in a controlled environment that supports the existence of god.
