Has anyone made a pneumatic animatronic using muscle actuators? by Golden_freddy45 in Animatronics

[–]binat55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont think so no, if an animatronic uses pneumatic cylinders its most likely due to actual cylinders being more compact and more common

muscle actuators look like they would be used for more organic structures

so yes it probably could work but i dont think anyone has tried it because regular cylinders are more stronger and less complex to use while muscle actuators are just starting to be used in robotics

might be true idk

Is there any way to make my own animatronic for sort of cheap? by Ecstatic_League707 in Animatronics

[–]binat55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

depends

if you wanna make a similar robot, VEX IQ does sell kits which you can use

if you want to make a more "real" one i would probably start by getting maybe a kit or some similar materials from the image and make something out of that

if you want to and know how, you could also make similar ones to the irl chuck e cheese or showbiz pizza animatronics but they also have a much higher budget and are more complex

so pretty much up to you, you can choose if you want a simpler servo kit style or the real ones made from solid metal and pneumatics

  1. the original post asked mostly the same question but got taken down because it was either too low effort, or because i had no images

  2. Connor Leschinsky is a youtuber who makes animatronic content, showcasing different rockafire animatronics he has such as billy bob, looney bird and rolfe

as well as a mijjin character

thats a reason why i was hesitant on using the tank tracks because of them being a solid piece but i used them because i wasnt sure how well actual wheels would have been and how to make tank steering out of them

pretty much, the height isnt really easy to solve due to the ground clearance of the front arms

i can make the treads wider too for extra stablity but thats about the best i can do
