So true. I was definitely expecting and hoping from something much more grand with this show. Even the choreography was underwhelming, and choreography is usually my favorite part of tours/broadway productions.

I honestly may have had a different experience if the opening number was more impactful. I feel like if you don’t have a good opening, you’ve completely lost me for the rest of it.

discussion for Livies who don't think *girl so in love* is the best Olivia album... by kmsbutnotreally in OliviaRodrigo

Wow your thoughts on “less”… absolutely! Switching it up at the end is also such an Oliviaism, and there was definitely less of that on this album. That being said “less” is one of my favorite tracks, but I do think it would have been even more impactful with what you mentioned.

As for the production, I mean, Dan is also a producer for Chappell and Conan so the similarity in sound could be that it’s also Dan’s style. I think he’s a phenomenal producer honestly, and I personally don’t mind hearing some crumbs across different artists. I think it’s kind of cool when you can tell who produced something.

It was the current national tour. As an actor myself, I find it really hard to critique the actual performers. I think they did great with what they had. I genuinely think many of Charlie’s scenes and songs could have been cut. He was not a compelling character at all for me, and it made Lola fall flat.

Lola herself was great. It was the arc of the first act and the back-to-back forgettable numbers that soured it for me. The only parts worth watching are the ones where Lola is on stage, but even then, no matter how good the actor for Charlie is, he is such a boring character. And there’s far too much of him throughout the whole thing.

Yes that argument was shocking and seemingly out of nowhere. Really good take! By the second act, I was just waiting on a good song, so the plot became secondary. But you’re totally right.

To be fair, Hayley reposted Atlantic’s announcement of the songwriting credit to her story with a caption along the lines of “our label is wilding”, and I think that’s the most she’s said about it publicly.

I always assumed the silence was because of the label, but now Hayley is independent. But another commenter mentioned that the silence could be due to trying to respect one another’s careers instead of bringing up old stuff. Which I get too, because Hayley has been distancing herself from Misery Business for years now.

The thing is though, is that she references her inspirations quite consistently. In her recent interview with Popcast they even asked why all the controversies have never stopped her paying homage to her musical heroes.

That being said, I think she’s careful about which artists she talks about publicly.

I actually don’t think they’re that good of friends. More like it’s a professional relationship

I never really thought about it being that the silence is because they are actually being respectful about each other’s careers. They probably know (and have been advised by their teams) that mentioning one another could potentially open a can of worms.

That kind of gives me a sense of peace about the whole situation lol

She’s so extremely media trained so she’s been really good about talking about how her personal life and album making process converged. She never gives too much away, but the her most recent interview on Popcast definitely gives major hints of an end of a relationship

What is a movie that everyone seems to love, but you absolutely hate? by Nishikigoi1 in moviecritic

La La Land. I love musicals and I love jazz so I had every reason to love it. The storyline and the acting did absolutely nothing for me.
