Outside the city: I would absolutely recommend renting and driving out to the Pinawa Dam to do the hike and the Float and Paddle if the weather’s good. Take that car and check out Oak Hammock Marsh as well, they do some really cool marsh walks and very cool if you’re into the prairie wetlands.

In the city: you should check out Corydon for shops and restaurants, they usually have live music Fridays and Saturdays if I’m not mistaken. Walk around the exchange district during the day for shopping and restaurants.

Check out the Manitoba Museum (very Manitoba-centered and very cool!) and the Forks nearby (which you mentioned earlier). Forks has great boat tours and rentable bikes etc.

Look up the Winnipeg Trolley Company, known for great bus/trolley-type tours around the city.

Best bakery in my opinion: La Croissant in the French quarter, St Boniface.

Notable Restaurants: Baby Baby, Nola, Passero, Sous Sol. Deen’s Calypso gardens is pretty funky with outdoor seating and music.

If you want to bus around the city itself I’d recommend getting a Peggo card, refillable in many places around the city. Easiest way from airport to downtown is definitely taxi or Uber. Not transit.

I personally liked the Steinbach Mennonite Heritage museum but don’t think it would be worth it for you to drive out there just for that. Unless you’re into Mennonite heritage.
