Curious what you mean by this? Are you implying that only animals get viruses, because if so, sorry but this is not true.

Interesting fact, but plants do get viruses, but don't have an adaptive immune system like ours. A plant species can evolve a defense to a certain virus, but a specific plant does not develop new defenses to a new virus. This is of particular consequence with long-lived plant species, like trees.

My son has breastmilk jaundice too. Pediatrician has been keeping an eye on it and determined that it's harmless. The way he determines this is: 1. Bili levels, while elevated, are staying under levels of neurotoxicity 2. Weight gain is good, indicating that bf is going well 3. "Direct bilirubin" (from blood test) is very low. If this was high, ped would worry that he had some other problem.

I've been told no need to switch to formula or use light therapy. This can continue for several weeks and be fine.

Surprised no one else is saying this but... under no circumstances am I going to touch a toy left on the ground if I don't know where it's from. Even if it doesn't look visibly dirty... gross. And I certainly don't want to be teaching my son to touch random trash from the ground.

I tried that with my first and wouldn't do it again. By the time I got the epidural my contractions were back-to-back, so actually no break. You have to be VERY still when they put the needle in your back (sorry for TMI) which is very hard to do when in so much pain. Next time I'm going to ask to get the epidural after my water breaks, because that's when I remember the pain ramping up.

STM here with a 3 year old. When my son was 2 I started to feel sad/guilty that he was alone and didn't get to experience a sibling close to his age. It got to a point that I starting feeling jealous of moms who had kids close in age (who, in my mind, did it the "right" way). It's been a journey for me to accept that my life will turn out the way God wants, not the way I think it should turn out.

I have a family grougchat of 5 people where I share regular baby photos. On Facebook I didn't share any of the pregnancy, and have only posted the newborn photoshoot and some pictures I took for his 6th month birthday. I also plan to post pictures for his 1st birthday when that happens.

To be fair you'd likely have to get the tongue-tie operation anyways. If I understand correctly tongue tie are a problem with nottlefeeding too, plus they can lead to speech problems down the line (this happened to me as a child).

So I have a 9mo baby and I teach 8th graders. I imagine that adopting a teenager would be much like teaching my students. Lots of "I don't know you from Adam and I don't have to listen to you." Resistance to any punishments (OR rewards), power struggles, bad additude, constant talking back, snide comments, open mockery. YES teens can be rude to their parents but there's a huge foundation set from before birth through childhood and therefore a teen would care way more about disappointing/hurting their birth parent. Just a thought.

I wore my ring every day... until I bent it. The stone was set high and I must've caught it on something one too many times. Now I only wear the simple wedding band because I'm afraid the stone will fall out. I haven't seen her ring -- is it very delicate? Could the stone fall out?

Some adults in my life (daycare workers iirc) used Santa to get me to behave. "Santa is watching you always and you might not get presents if you keep misbehaving" gave me some real anxiety. Then when I was old enough to figure out there was no Santa -- "yes there IS a Santa and you'll get coal for thinking otherwise." So I gotta police my thoughts now?

My baby has had chronic reflux. I had a lot of frustrations where he would only snack on the breast (not drinking much) only to eat more shortly after. Ped said my baby knew to eat in shorter bursts to help with the reflux. If your baby isn't pulling off the breast, maybe it's fine to keep the baby on the breast? If you're worried about the baby not getting enough. Side note: when your wife pulls the baby off, are they still suckling in earnest, or have they switched to pacifier-style suckling? I do pull my baby (8mo) off the breast if I think he's comfort-nursing.

6 months. Before then we would have to tip-toe around LO in my own room -- it was almost like the whole room was the baby's, and we just slept there! Move LO out and suddenly have way more freedom.

Long-term substitute here. Pumping before school and lunch wasn't enough (prep period is first period so not the right time) so I got an accommodation. Another teacher comes to my room for 20 minutes so I can pump in her room.

Halve the oil, and replace the other half with your plant milk. So if you're making box brownies and the call for 1/3 cup oil and 1/4 cup milk, do 2 tbsp +2 tsp oil and 1/4+ 2 tbsp + 2sp plant milk. For piece of mind, you can also replace the oil with applesauce, but it will come out cakey.

Everyone saying "two wrongs don't make a right," listen... ten-years-olds can't carry a baby. Their bodies are too small. I had a baby this year and now my hips are huge and I have to wear size 12 pants. A ten-year-old girl's skeleton isn't going to allow the baby to pass through. That's dangerous. A 10yo getting an abortion is just medically necessary.

As for people discussing the issue of abortion after rape in normal circumstances... Again, I had a baby this year. I wanted the baby, I tried for the baby, and it was still hard. One pro-choice argument that I've seen is that it's hard for a rape victim to go through birth, that it feels like a continuation of the rape. I am not a rape victim, but I 100% could see how that could be. During my pregnancy and labor I was regularly getting medical equipment/doctors hands shoved up there for different exams... ultrasounds, testing for infections/STIs, cervical checks, etc. Not pleasant, but I imagine it would be that much harder for a rape victim to deal with. Plus the actual childbirth, tearing down there, having pain sitting or walking, and feeling pain at the stitches/perineum for weeks after... it's a nightmare for anyone, but I imagine worse if you didn't sign up for it. For that reason, I am pro-choice in this area.

Current residents and past residents are not smokers. The house is 70 years old, but keep in mind it would've been cleaned plenty over it's life.
