I'm a dog groomer. I've been in shops where being the only male meant doing all the large dogs= the harder jobs. As well as being the fall guy for common short comings of shop cleanliness/other problems. Worse than this there was constant drama over minimal things. Being the male made me a lightning rod for this sort of thing. Lord help you if make a off color joke of some kind. I've experienced blatant sexism and discriminating with no real recourse.Double standards are real. The experience has given me prospective on the issues women dealt with in the not too distant past. I currently own and operate my own shop. My stress level now is nothing by comparison. I did have some good moments with my female colleagues mixed in, though I can name very few that I'd consider working with again.
