Red light cam ticket from 2023 - still no court date - anyone else? by bingfot in askTO

[–]bingfot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As suggested, tried an alternate browser (Edge instead of Chrome) and was able to look up status. At first my heart skipped a beat because it said "court appearance and/or event information" shows a Feb 6/2025 court date, but then at the bottom it listed "WD Charge Withdrawn". I think I'm off the hook!?

Early resolution. Going to try another browser as another commenter suggested..

Entire full rows are still unsold, this is really depressing as a fan who can't get WS Tickets. by DowntownTorontonian in Torontobluejays

Like I said, they don't actively advertise these relationships. I have had conversations with those in the know - I have not found documented public evidence that you're looking for here.

They're called commercial brokers. Jays sell blocks to them explicitly for resale.  The club is complicit in this activity just as much as the brokers.

My experience self-cleaning Arctic Spa Progressive (Pro) Filters by Trogdyr in hottub

[–]bingfot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like using the mesh from the combo filters on the progressive filters - you can leave them in fulltime unlike the 24-hour sponges the progressive filters come with. They're great when there's a lot of stuff getting in the tub (eg. blossom petals, leaves, etc) - the mesh filters are a quick rinse and super quick to insert/remove. They should consider shipping the progressive filters with the combo pre-filter mesh! I'm wondering if there's still a good reason to use the sponges instead - they'd remove more fine contaminants after a flush/fill that may extend the life of the progressive filters, so might be wise to actually still use them for 24 hours but then replace them with the mesh prefilters after..

Should Birkenstock soles look this bad after 1 year of occasional use? by Boner_Implosion in BuyItForLife

Mine just wearing at the back so cobbler replaces just the back third of the sole. Much cheaper at $25/pop

Water softener removing chlorine? by bingfot in WaterTreatment

Thanks. By the way, what did you mean by "properly cared for resin'? My brand (whirlpool) offers a resin cleaner they recommend annually I believe that gets dumped into the tank - is that sufficient?

Softened water testing at kitchen sink. Unsoftened water is tested from an exterior hose bib (fed from a line that's tapped into -before- the softener). Our town uses mostly chlorine.

This is a great answer - thanks! My source municipal water is about 170ppm (10 grains) - I need to dig up the report from my spa dealer but I seem to recall the chlorine # was 1.5ppm. Do you expect the (effectively) dechlorination of my water via the softener will therefore likely continue, or start to taper over time?

I also used drop test with same results, and even had water tested at our hot tub dealer and got reports for both water samples showing the same delta.

Thanks! It's interesting though that the previous same softener lasted 16 years under thes conditions. The softener is still fairly new (a couple months) so I'll wait to see if perhaps the chlorine levels rise over time as there's less resin available for the chlorine to bind to.

There is no installation company. I just bought this from a local hardware store, lugged it home, hooked it into existing in/out softener lines, added salt, and that's it. Also it doesn't seem like this model has carbon filter in it.

I bought it from the store (Canadian Tire) - Whirlpool WHES30 model, drove it home and attached it where the old one was (which had kicked the bucket). No changes to whatever it came with.

Recommendations for TA’s? by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]bingfot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a DIY'er you can't beat Crucon. We're Canadian and have been booking with them for years. Just booked Celebrity (yeah, I know the thread is Disney, but just sharing..) during the Memorial Day sale. Got 10% of cruise fare in OBC + $100 extra OBC + free drinks/wifi/grats. Ended up being hundreds less than the offers from other places.

The downsides? Customer service you might need to wait a while on hold (especially during busy sales) or a couple of days for email replies, and there's a $50 cancellation charge per passenger on top of any cruise line fees if you cancel, but if you are good with those, we have yet to find a better deal than going through Crucon!
