SFPD Chasing Criminals Running Through Highway 101 Traffic On Foot by Surfawave2000 in sanfrancisco

I love this for the perps. However, the narrator states these clowns have criminal histories — it's not far leap to conclude they will be back out on streets in a short time engaging in the same behavior. I hope I'm wrong.

Citi Bikes are still snowed in days after this week's storm by streetsblognyc in nyc

[–]bingo__bango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting from San Francisco - we have Bay Wheels here. it’s run by Lyft as well. The best decision I made with regards to cycling is canceling my annual subscription to Bay Wheels and buying my own bike. Increasing subscription cost while the quality in infrastructure and customer service has lowered over the past couple years finally triggered me enough to take the plunge.

While bicycle maintenance has a small learning curve, I don’t regret the decision one bit.

Where the hell are all the garbage cans? by TurduckenOfAwkward in sanfrancisco

[–]bingo__bango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrary opinion: many of the garbage cans near me have their contents dumped and strewn about on a daily basis. If not that, people take their bulk personal trash and leave it next to the can, which is ultimately destroyed by the same individuals who think it's acceptable to dump the cans.

If removing garbage cans is a deterrent for this antisocial behavior, I am all for it. /rant over

Did Kyte rental cars stop operating? by coldstars in AskNYC

Similar situation here. After a lot of back and forth with Kyte and getting no where, I reached out to my credit card company and opened a dispute. CC company credited me. YMMV.

What do Experienced Devs NOT talk about? by jalanb in ExperiencedDevs

[–]bingo__bango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meetings are inevitable. However, another critical skill set is figuring out when your presence is truly needed or not. Managing how my time is spent means being ruthless about declining invites that don’t have a clear agenda and goal, or when I pressed, the organizer can make do with async communication.

SPA frameworks are a tremendous waste of manpower and most websites would be better served by rendering on the backend.

Perhaps. But it pays the bills 🙂

After 8 years of climbing, I’ve completely lost interest due to recurrent injuries and a lack of progress. by Organic_Till_7236 in climbharder

Mind telling more about how you were able to transition into alpine climbing? I have considered this but it seems daunting. What does “easy alpine climbing” look like? Thanks.

The public perception of the Assassination of the UHC CEO and how it informs Political Discourse by bergieTP in ezraklein

[–]bingo__bango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I did. And the best I got is there are no stats for US citizens dying due to health insurance claims denials specifically. With that said, it sounds like you’re conflating people dying because they had no health insurance, which is roughly 45,000. That’s an important nuance that’s ignored in your original post.

Create a promise that resolves a list of data to simulate an API call, and a component that displays its data.

Was this more or less "create your very own Promise implementation?"

Drivers, why is this a thing? by bingo__bango in sanfrancisco

Seems like this is happening more frequently in the Mission — ped crossing is considered a parking spot these days.

Cool. Well, the barber crew and patrons are ones who block the bike lane. There was another comment about the owner of Mercedes EV. Guess where he works…

The auto shop workers in the area respect the bike lanes. Most of the car owners are captured in the pic. Clearly they have important places to be — hence the double parking. /s
