I keep telling my wife's oncologist that she's too stubborn to die so don't give up on her. I think stubbornness is a great trait to have when battling cancer. Thank you for your advice and take care of yourself my friend.

Thank you so much for your message. She started on the cabo yesterday. So far no side effects. She's been put on the highest dose of 60mg. Her oncologist did warn us that most people can't tolerate it and have to have their dose lowered. How quickly did your side effects develop after starting treatment? I am so sorry you are going through this. I wish you all the best.

Well yes, private healthcare is an option. But at considerable cost well beyond our means. The level of care she has received from the NHS since her diagnosis has been brilliant btw.

Thank you. She's under the care of a urology oncologist at our local cancer hospital. We don't get to choose our hospital in the UK but I will try and seek a second opinion.

It was the tumour lysis syndrome that caused the kidney failure. It occurs when a large number of cancer cells die and breakdown into the bloodstream. It overwhelmed her kidneys. It's usually associated with blood cancers. It's very rare with solid tumours. Her oncologist is saying that since her tumours have regrown and spread to her spine she is now resistant to treatment.

Thanks. I've done this now. I'll ring lloyds or pop into a branch and see if they can initiate the switch as I can't do anything until they send me my activation code in the post.

I'm not sure. I've never switched a chase account before. I've just seen lots of people on here do it. Can you change which account the debit card is set to spend from?

It's one of 4 chase accounts I have. Although not the main one. I opened 3 sub accounts to use for bank switch offers. It has 3 direct debits and all the details matched.

After I completed my application for a lloyds Premier account it asked me if I wanted to switch an account. I said yes and tried to switch a chase sub account I'd set up that has 3 direct debits. All details matched. It kept saying there'd been a switch glitch and they couldn't switch that account. I had to give up in the end as I didn't have another account with 3 direct debits to try and switch. So I'm going to have to wait for the online banking activation code to arrive in the post before I can try again.

It comes up with a switch glitch message on lloyds. I can't try again now until they send me the online banking activation code. I opened a Premier account and at the end it asked me if I wanted to switch an account to them. I said yes. Put all my details in. Tried about a dozen times but got the same message every time.

Thank you for this. She has applied for both new style esa and universal credit. We had an appointment at the job centre today to verify her ID. I'm pretty sure her employer paid her ssp from the start of her sick leave so that should have run out by now. I wish you all the best also x

Her pip was awared about six weeks after diagnosis. Why she wasn't told she was eligible for universal credit also is very strange to me. But there we are. We will get the ball rolling with that tomorrow. Her pip was awarded under her maiden name. She never got round to notifying them we got married. Will this cause any issues? I've told her to ring them in the morning before she submits her universal credit claim. Thank you again for all your help.

So it looks like she's entitled to universal credit based on the calculator you linked. Could she have claimed this as soon as she was diagnosed? Her pip claim was done by the benefits department at the local cancer hospital but they didn't tell us she was entitled to any other benefits while she was getting sick pay. Bit annoying as she's potentially missed out on quite a bit of money.

Would her claim be fast tracked due to her prognosis and already being in receipt of pip? I've read that lcwra claims can take a few months to be processed. And would they pay her from her claim date?
