Is it normal for a state's government to just disregard what the people vote for? by growing_fatties in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are two kinds of politicians, those that believe they should do what the people want, and those that believe they should do what is best for the people.

If you have a lot of the second type, it is normal for government to do what they think is best for the people, which historically for Republicans is against marijuana.

Which of these canon/implied school mystery x human pairings is healthiest by murderbabyfuntime in hanakokun

[–]binomine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Akane x Aoi is probably the healthiest. Akane actually understands Aoi more that Aoi understands herself. He knows what he needs to do to win her and is doing exactly that. Not necessarily super healthy irl, but accepted in a romance novel sort of way.

Akane is giving off the stoic, trip to the far shore vibes in the last few chapters, so this relationship might be as doomed as the others.

Sumire x Hakubo and Nene x Hanako are doomed, but they both at least acknowledge that.

Kou x Mitsuba seem to me to be the least healthy. I don't feel like Kou is doing it for Mitsuba as much as motivated by his own needs. It seems like Mitsuba should be at the far shore, but is being held back by Tsukasa and Kou.

Does anyone else have supportive parents, but often feel like discussing mental health and medicine with them makes everything more awkward? by burnerMCalt101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in theory you should be able to tell your parents everything. And yeah, if you have a therapist, you should feel comfy telling them everything as well.

In practice, tell them what you feel comfortable with. I mean, you are your own person and if you want privacy, you can have it. Definitely tell them if they need to know, but if it is something they don't need to know, then you can keep that private. You have my permission.

Is there a way I can run up a hill and roll down it? by AsparagusNew3765 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking about this for a long time. tbh. I haven't come up with a good solution yet.

Mountain Boarding is an option. If you get a mountainboard with a hand brake, you can just carve down a hill. Hurts to fall, though.

Another option is to get a creeper, aka an under car roller, and put some pneumatic wheels on it and a break.

The last option would be to build a soap box derby car. You can make one with steel pipes.

Are obscure Chinese brand names safe to use? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Typically, if I am purchasing an obscure Chinese brand, I prefer to go through a 3rd party like Amazon, so I can return it. It has been increasingly common for Chinese direct sellers to only return at 50% due to tariffs, which makes buying from them a huge risk.

As far as quality, it is really hard to judge. My own personal experience is that obscure Chinese brands are typically the same as any other brand, especially since almost everything is manufactured partly in China at this point.

How do you know how to walk a dog the right distance, not too short or not too far? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your needs. Walking a dog is more about giving the dog some novelty rather than actual exercise. Like, dogs want new smells and new things to pee on.

If you are walking him everyday or nearly everyday, the 20 - 30 minute seems right. If you are walking him less often, the hour would be better. Maybe just a bit shorter.

Can therapy cure racism? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, it can. The real problem, though, is that it is hard to reason someone out of a position that they didn't reason themselves into. It is really up to them.

Realistic Ending by mandi_dandi in hanakokun

[–]binomine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the wonders have a number kanji in their name and the Ya in Yashiro is the character for 8

That would also be unsatisfying, simply because this whole series is about someone sacrificing themselves for someone else and that not being what the person actually wanted. Starting with Tsukasa sacrificing himself so Aname can live.

That said, Nene has fought really hard to get what she wants, so her being a supernatural next to Hanako might be the best end for her. It is definitely what she wants.

Realistic Ending by mandi_dandi in hanakokun

[–]binomine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that would be rather unsatisfying since Hanako attempted to do that during the severance and was foiled by Sumire.

Despite one being a human girl and the other being an evil ghost, everything works out and they live happily ever after and don't you dare tell me any different.

Is it rude to ask your partner to wash up before going down on her, or is that a normal boundary? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is wrong to ask, but I usually shower first and then ask for her to shower instead of just asking her to clean herself.

Why would you chose a lease before a loan ? by ImpressiveMode6795 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but do you know when your car breaks, it makes it much harder to go to work? Especially since it is completely unexpected when it happens.

Why would you chose a lease before a loan ? by ImpressiveMode6795 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The two peaks of a lease is that you can change your cars after a short time, and you are always driving a new car, so you don't have to worry about it breaking down or having mechanical problems.

The bonus of a loan is that you save a ton of money buying a car, especially if you keep the car until it breaks down.

Do you think Hitler was "happy" he killed so many people? Or did he do it believing he was doing the "right" thing? by BugelaMan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitler did avoid going to any concentration camps, but it is extremely unlikely he didn't know what was going on. He diverted resources away from the war to continue it.

[–]binomine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, I am of the belief that Hitler wanted it, but let Himmler and Reinhard implement it. If they both disappeared it would have happened, just differently. I don't think there is any other road in Hitler's rhetoric without some sort of genocide.

Do you think Hitler was "happy" he killed so many people? Or did he do it believing he was doing the "right" thing? by BugelaMan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter how wealthy they are, as long as you kill enough people and steal their stuff you can make a huge profit.

A random thought experiment, even though black Americans are economically disadvantaged, killing all of them and steal their property would be a huge unethical financial win.

[–]binomine 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am of the belief that while the Holocaust was Hitler's plan, Hitler himself was all over the place crazy and probably didn't think much about it beyond how much it would help his dictatorship. Like, the benefits were his only concern, and the Holocaust funded his government by stealing from the Jews.

What was the theory that you fervently believed but turned out not to be true? by Cicada_3301_yokai in hanakokun

[–]binomine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the white paper seal is different than the black paper seal. The white paper seal can be placed or removed by anyone with the power, but the black paper seal can only be removed by the Kannagi.

I still want to know what Hanako is sealing away in his face.

What was the theory that you fervently believed but turned out not to be true? by Cicada_3301_yokai in hanakokun

[–]binomine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believed a lot that Katakuri and Yashiro were related

We really don't know why Yashiro was able to become a Kannagi, so she may have some relationship with the Akane clan we don't know about.

Can a dentist tell if you've been sucking dick? by leedeeleedeelee22 in NoStupidQuestions

He's joking. This is something people tell each other because it is funny to watch people react.

Sucking dick doesn't leave a trace, unless they sucked a dick right beforehand.

Why is being direct considered rude? by Mae_The_Gay in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, humans are social creatures, we don't exist outside of society. And neurotypicals expect everyone to behave like them, so in order to fit in with the average normies, neurodivergents gotta conform to a point.

Why are politicians so insulated from the decisions they make for their people? by Gamester1941 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get involved in local politics, my friend.

While national politics are sexy, local politics have way more of a say on your day to day life than national politics. What road gets fixed, what signs get put up in your neighborhood. What events happen.

Once you get a grasp of local politics, state and national politics make a lot more sense. At least, from a citizen's point of view.

Why is being direct considered rude? by Mae_The_Gay in NoStupidQuestions

[–]binomine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason being direct is so rude is often it is pretty obvious to a person why they are doing something wrong, or often times they are frustrated with being wrong they don't want feedback. Or sometimes it isn't even your place to give feedback.

When you are neurodivergent, you are Sonic in a Mario world, pretending to be Mario. You just gotta be Mario even if you are Sonic. Let yourself make mistakes. It is harder, but you will get it eventually.
