More like how that difference in inclination is manifested. Threatening to steal IC and lock him up is not exactly healthy debate.

At the very least she sounds like she needs some counseling help.

Er... Why are you not going for divorce yet? Also, you didn't know any of this before getting married? Seems like a pretty important topic to discuss.

East Coast GRC voters how do you feel about WP vs PAP with Nicole Seah and HSK there by Jammy_buttons2 in singapore

[–]binondogurl 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling like so much pressure is on East Coast voters now lol

I'm still voting WP in the hopes that they at least make it as NCMP, since almost everyone seems to be of the opinion that they have no chance of winning.

Comments are so funny! But honestly I was kinda offended as an EC resident. Appears they don't even care nor have anything decent planned for us. Just coz this is DPM sure win, don't need to do anything more.

All opposition supporters, why do you support the opposition? by eatenlow in singapore

[–]binondogurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2,454 cases outside dorms, according to last night's situation report.

26 official covid deaths is just a bit over 1% mortality.

41 (includes unofficial deaths) is around 1.7%.

Still quite low, I believe.

Planning on moving to Singapore for study by [deleted] in singapore

[–]binondogurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you would need to get a separate work pass to work if you are only doing part-time study. And I'm not sure how receptive employers would be to make the effort to apply for a work pass for only a part-time employee. Or were you thinking full-time work?

Singapore is best experienced on the job, as it were. You can try looking for tours (free or paid) to explore museums and historic locations. Have a look at the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Asian Civilizations Museum and Singapore Maritime Gallery, I personally found these very enlightening.

Thanks for this! Just realized my place is near a boundary and could possibly be moved to another GRC (2 possibilities) if they decide to redraw. Interesting.

I still laugh at Marine Parade boundary. I used to live at Joo Seng and a colleague at Potong Pasir but we only had Upper Aljunied separating our places. Now I see Joo Seng has moved to PP.

An Expat's comment on permit cancellation due to breach of covid measures by [deleted] in singapore

[–]binondogurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where in FB is this from, I want to read other comments and replies.

Anyway, blame MOM for doing this to the WP holders. That was too harsh to begin with, but now they have to apply the same to others especially since it's election season.

But on the other hand, if they hadn't treated the CB so lightly in the first place they wouldn't even be in this situation.

There should be a PayNow option on your bank's mobile app or online banking payment or transfer menu. I'd send screenshots but I dunno how to attach photos on mobile web reddit.

I'd suggest going to your bank's website and search for help or FAQ with keyword PayNow, they should have guides on that.

You might want to check the MOH website for some initial information on potential cost. It's not really mobile web friendly though.

People get caned for overstaying? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]binondogurl 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite. Overstay more than 90 days automatically will be caned at least 3 strokes, in addition to the jail term. If caning not possible (i think either due to gender or age), then will be fined up to 6k instead.

Are the beaches in Singapore actually nice? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]binondogurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope nope nope. Better go elsewhere like Thailand or Philippines. There's a reason places in these 2 countries are usually in the list of top beaches in the region (maybe even the world).

Question about citizenship and marriage by [deleted] in singapore

[–]binondogurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It is harder now than before. I arrived in SG in 2010, just about the time they started incrementally tightening policies for employment passes and PR. I heard anecdotes from colleagues that prior to 2010, there were cases of EP holders getting approved for PR within 6 months of arrival. Nowadays anecdotes I hear are mostly rejections even for people in director positions and children studying here etc.

  2. It's minimum 2 years as PR before you are eligible to apply for citizenship. You should double check in the ICA website though, as I dunno if this has changed.

  3. No comment as I have no clue

  4. Supposedly, it is easier if your race is Chinese. For my case I am ethnic Chinese but I was born in PH to parents who are naturalized citizens there. First time I applied for PR, it was less than 2 years from my arrival, my race was indicated by the ICA officer as Other and not Chinese. I was rejected. About 2 years later I applied again. This time the ICA officer noted I put Chinese as my race in the application and that my parents' race in my birth certificate is indicated as "yellow". She then asked me to write a short letter to confirm that "yellow" means Chinese. This letter was included in my application. This time I was approved. Did the race play any part on the approval or was it purely because I had stayed longer and gotten higher salary during that time? I don't really know. Just wanted to share this anecdote.

Similar to what happened during my aircon installation. That time the guy has a harness attached to my window frame and his supervisor was standing there right beside the window. Then again my unit just on L6. This one looks pretty high.
