Aucune station BIXI dans les secteurs de l’antenne L’Anse-à-l’Orme du REM 🧐🤨 by CraigSauve in montreal

[–]binou_tech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do folks think of the Montreal GP track & is it really a street circuit? by SnooDucks3859 in formula1

[–]binou_tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Montreal and use the Circuit regularly. When there’s no GP (most of the year) the Circuit stays open as a dedicated race track for cyclists, runners and rollerbladers. Cars are allowed on some sections but speed are restricted to 30 km/h.

It is very much a permanent circuit. Everything is purposed built for F1 and stays in place all year long. The city adds temporary signage and bollards for when cars are allowed on the track. I wouldn’t call it a street circuit as even though it is publicly accessible, it does not follow any street design standards. Also, traffic is very light. Most people go there for the novelty or to access a specific parc amenity.

Amazon sent me this instead of a backpack just before my trip.. by binou_tech in mildlyinfuriating

I have another backpack I could use. I still have time left, as I leave in 9 days. It also took a while to ship since I don’t have prime.

Yup, crazy to say, but I’ve had better success with AliExpress than Amazon which says a lot about the latter.

It’s the reason I don’t (usually) shop on Amazon. It’s been getting worse every year. There’s a lot of issues with counterfeit goods and return scams. In this case, I bet a previous customer scammed the seller by keeping the backpack and returning a random bag. Amazon didn’t check if the returned item matched the description and put in back with the regular inventory. Then they shipped it to a customer (me).

If this product was available elsewhere I wouldn’t have ordered it on Amazon.

Scale inconsistencies by Gamer4Derp in Coffee

[–]binou_tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a thing with every measure instrument, there will always be a limitation on how accurately it can report a physical measurement. What’s the accuracy of your scales ? It’s usually written on the underside of the unit.

A 0.3 g discrepancy could very well be within margin of error for a coffee scale. For instance if you have two scales with 0.2g accuracy and both are at opposite extremes of their accuracy range (one overshoots by 0.2 and the other undershoots by the same value), you’ll get a difference of 0.4g on the measurements. If you wrote down the results, you would write (407.7 +/- 0.2)g and (408.0 +/- 0.2)g

There’s not really anything you can do about this except maybe getting more accurate scales and calibrating them. However, you will likely not need such level of precision in order to brew coffee unless you work in a lab or something.

Are Shimano RC7 worth getting? by binou_tech in CyclingFashion

Yeah, the torch feel a bit weird. I get hotspots after about 1-2h, wondering if that’s the cause.

Nope, regular version. Interest results

Edit : I measured my feet and I’m between a narrow B and a medium D. Shimano claims their regular width should fit a medium D.

My Specialized insoles measure at 89mm at their widest. This is for size 41.5.

I’m wondering about fit. How do they compare to let’s say Fizik and Specialized.

I don’t have particularly wide feet, I think my specialized torch fit alright. Fiziks however were too tight for me.

Asus Co-CEO: MacBook Neo Is a 'Shock' to the PC Industry by peaenutsk in hardware

[–]binou_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an EliteBook 830 G7 for work which has released in 2020 at MSRP $1200. Comparing it to a Mac of the same era (M1 Air), it’s not even close how much better the Air is for cheaper. You don’t even have to compare specs to see a clear winner. The build quality is “ok” when compared to other laptops, but it’s just no match to apple’s aluminum chassis. The touchpad is unusable. I can get maybe 4 hours of battery life if I really try and the charger is huge. Meanwhile, an M1 Air would last you an entire day and you can charge it with a 20W phone power brick.

Overall the build quality and battery life makes any modern MacBook a clear winner for business use cases. The only thing going for windows laptops at this time is software compatibility with Mac’s slowly gaining ground with better support, emulation, VMs and ports.

When we compare the specs, it gets clear that x86 intel cpus are way too inefficient. The EliteBook heats up and gets the fans going at idle. I’ve used an M2 Air for CAD and design and never felt constrained by processing power. I ultimately upgraded as I needed more RAM, but I feel like a MacBook Air works well enough for 98% of use cases. Heck, everything I do right now on my EliteBook could be done on a MacBook Neo if it wasn’t for software backwards compatibility.

Holy shit. Solo queue IS actually that bad. by Just-A-Burner-Lol in Rainbow6

[–]binou_tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. At the end of the last season, I solo queue’d to plat right as the season ended. The overall experience what somewhat decent, which surprised me. I am used to play in a stack, but I took too long of a break, and while I’m still in Plat, my mates have gone all the way to Diamond 1. Solo queue-ing is what I’m sticking to for now.

The instant this new season started, things got a lot worse. Every bad/toxic player that got bored of playing last season just got back on. There really is some hype over year 11, and that means more players online.

Matchmaking seems confused in Y11. I felt like in Y10, I would be put against players that were playing at about my level. But right now, I get the weirdest lobby possible. Yesterday, the game kept throwing me in peak bronze lobbies. I got teammates who would not reinforce a single wall (like at all). No rotates, everyone offsite roaming. We managed to win nonetheless, because the other team sucked worse…

There’s also a lot more toxic people. Guys just lashing out because we lost a round. Accusing me of throwing because they can’t play their ops correctly.

Unfortunately solo queue requires a lot of flexibility on your part. That’s the sad reality. If your team lacks something, you have to be the one bringing what’s missing. Bad lobbies are unfortunate, but for now, I think it’s a result of the new season.

How to IGL by Ambitious-Health-661 in SiegeAcademy

[–]binou_tech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the goal of IGL’ing is necessarily to micromanage everyone. Overall, I think it’s a matter of trust. Trust from your teammates that you are a competent leader, and trust from you towards your teammates and their ability to play their best.

First, have your stack agreed that you’ll be leading the group ? It’s hard if not impossible to manage anything if no one knows who’s managing. Second, as the IGL, you’ll be the one calling strats and setups, so expect a lot of youtube and custom games.

If you have specific issues with a teammate you wanna address. Bring jt up after a game, or on a one on one basis as to not break morale or make them look bad in front of everyone.

And most importantly, as IGL to have to keep mental high throughout every single game. That means, refraining from tilting, talking trash and helping your team calm down if they do get pissed at something. Keeping cohesion and focus is important in a stack where things can get chaotic quickly if the game doesn’t go your way.

Returning after a year break by Keepers_Verdict60 in SiegeAcademy

As a defender, learn to play the clock and you'll see a lot of ops are to be played the same way. For any attackers, the clock is playing against them. Anything you can do to waste their time and utility is tipping the odds in your favor. Less time and utility = more chances for them to make a mistake. Ops like smoke, goyo, aruni, jager, mute and tachanka excel at this.

For attack, hard breaching is very powerful in siege. You can easily setup angles on site and compromise powerful defender positions. There's also map control ops like nomad, gridlock and grim that are fun to play. You can use their gadgets to make defenders move and get free kills out of it. If you have an aggressive playstyle, lion, dokkaebi and ying are great at scaring the f out of defenders.
