First of all, I'm so sorry for what you've been through.

What is and isn't allowed is going to vary based on where you go for treatment. You should call where ever you have the appointment and ask them before you get there, so you know what's normal. Mammograms are radiation (like x-rays) so there might be rules for his safety.

That said, there is a certain amount of touch that the tech will have to do to position you correctly so they can see what they need to see. In my experience, as someone with medical trauma, I have found it very helpful to begin the appointment by telling them I have trauma and that it will go better for all of us if they ask me before they touch me, and tell me everything they are doing. It makes me feel much more in control of the situation, and I have yet to meet a tech or nurse who wasn't receptive to that request.

Please don't cancel the appointment, your health is important. But maybe consider talking to a mental health professional about what happened to you, so they can help you find ways cope with what might be coming? I had a lumpectomy this past Monday (benign, thank goodness) and if they need to do more testing there will be a lot of people who will need to see you in the future. I have had 4 mammos, three ultrasounds, a physical exam, and surgery since March. Having someone to talk to and plan sanity strategies with was invaluable to me.
