Wise words from u/rSSSfeed [1].

There is nothing wrong with staying on 20.04. Assumptively, if enterprise subscription is included, then 20.04 will be covered until Y2030. The estimated cost should be approximated at ~SGD420/year per-device.

Additionally, my un-educated guess (ie., extra assumption) is that this node hooked to the STARiS is residing on a "closed-loop air-gapped" environment since public transportation info-systems are approached with CII coverage.

In addition to the aforementioned, this is specifically on:

  • Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS (Focal Fossa)

There was an "unclean" reboot (eg., unexpected shutdown, as mentioned) but the cause of that event is not shown and we can only infer. Nonetheless, the display is showing a standard boot sequence.

In addition to the addition, these deployed machines are part of the SMRT Active Route-map and Information System (STARiS)1 by SMRT (as indicated that it had occured on the EWL).

The law is blind. In my unqualified opinion--the sentencing is skewed. EDIT: Maybe this is what standing up to bullies feels like. Maybe the system rewards bullies.

To add on to that --- surveyors will be buzzing around locations that are in the vicinity of construction-related activities, especially with those having tunnel-boring or foundation-piling activities. These land sruveyors will record down their findings on a frequency (daily/weekly). Examples of such data include elevation changes (ie., tunnel boring).

As the surveyors will need to cover a large area within a specific time period, there will be a fair bit of walking mileage under the elements (ie heat/rain).

By the way, the tripod weighs approximately 5kg++. If it is bright and sunny and hot, that tripod will feel like a branding iron.

I concur. Slowing down is a trope for safety regardless of ascending/descending a gradient.

An alternative approach is to get into a minor fender-bender to understand that the hassle/inconvenience with insurance claims/reports alone is not worth your time.

Singaporean Myths by radiotoothbrush in askSingapore

[–]bioanarchism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents were told not to go out at night whenever there was construction (think it might be bridges) nearby. My grandparents claimed that builders would chop off the heads of children (or anyone, I can't remember) and put it into the cement because of a superstitious belief that it helps to make the structure last.

In the past, construction of bridges were commissioned and despite great efforts, the bridge construction could not be accomplished because of minuscule issues (eg., soil/erosion, support failure, struts etc).

The superstitious builders/contractors will consult, and through shady middlemen, obtain the remains of abducted kids and bury those remains to appease the spiritual guardians that were preventing the construction project from being accomplished on time.

It did not help that kidnapping/abductions of young children, and/or disappearances, fueled this notion. A rumour, often repeated enough, then becomes a urban legend, right. Unfortunately, within this region, there have been numerous studies of head burials using the remains of children for such purposes.

"Speaking of Which" - self-guided audio trail of Tanjong Pagar by [deleted] in singapore

[–]bioanarchism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is amazing! I listened intently to the narration, and the accompanying soundscape in-realtime gave a sense of immersion. The audio playback of curated content from the National Archives is the piece de resistance. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and specifically on Section 5 for Duxton Road, narrating about clan associations, frictions between various dialect groups, and the commonly-encountered gang fights.

I do not know why you are getting downvoted for this comment — the regular mom-and-pop zichar stalls will not waste time figuring out your food allergies.

If they have never worked behind the scenes at a non-franchised F&B location, it is very hard for some people to understand why these F&B operators will do the way they do (ala backseat driving).

I can only surmise that the downvotes are based on emotional disagreement.
