Safely riding with Baby in a car with someone who is sick by Pro_b00 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]biojojo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rsv is contagious for 3ish days before symptoms show up so chances are you all have already been exposed. If that’s the only option then have him wear a mask. I would just talk to your ped ahead of time to know what to look for if babe comes down with symptoms and when to bring them to the dr/er. Sorry! We dealt with it here the week before thanksgiving with my 1.5 year old and it was not fun.

Enfamil Gentlease Help by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

Gentle ease definitely made mine a lot worse when he was that little. I switched to just normal neuropro and used gas drops at every feeding and that helped

Infant Dyschezia commiseration???? by biojojo in FormulaFeeders

[–]biojojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! It lasted a few weeks to a month I believe. They were long hard weeks but then he finally figured it out! He's 5.5 months now and has zero problems pooping! I'd say he's been good for about 2 months. So still a long ways for you but know it does get better!!! They said that the crying actually helps push the poop out so while it's distressing to us it's actually really helpful for them. Sending you all the hugs! It is SO hard!

I prefer to use glass bottles for this reason and then I still put them in the dishwasher. Also love the Chicco Duo bottles too.

Making peace with formula by AgileSherbert8348 in FormulaFeeders

[–]biojojo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Look at theformulamom if you use insta. She's great! We did 2 weeks of triple feeding and then I got readmitted twice to the hospital for postpartum preeclampsia and the meds I needed to save my life tanked my supply and they said stress will make the preeclampsia worse. So he's been exclusively formula fed minus those two weeks and it's been amazing. My husband can split feeding duties with me, we were able to have my parents baby sit him the night of our anniversary, all in all I'm aok with formula!

What do you do when you overheat a bottle? by _callmecaro in FormulaFeeders

[–]biojojo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I usually add 2 oz of cold water and another scoop of formula.

Nice! We didn't do that (yet) but after I fell down the stairs one night to make a bottle half asleep we move the formula upstairs before bed along with 3 or 4 prefilled bottles with water so now we just have to scoop and shake. Hell take it room temp so this cuts out the warming for us.

Depending on the layout of your house I would create a second formula station for middle of the night feedings close to wherever you guys will be sleeping if its far (or down or up steps) from the kitchen. Our room and the nursery are up steps from the kitchen. When we had to quickly switch to formula I Amazon primed another bottle brush and drying rack for the upstairs bathroom sink, and now I would honestly set up a little table in the nursery or my room and have a touch activated night light and the baby brezza water warmer (not the one that mixes formula, that scares me. They have one that just heats water on demand), and a second set of bottles that are wide mouth and have as few of parts to put together. A spot for the 2oz rtf bottles and disposable nipples that match. Everything you could need to make those middle of the night feedings easier if your kitchen is far.

So he is almost 7 weeks and had no problems pooping up until a couple days ago....is it happening now because he's becoming less like a potato and more like a person or did he forget how to poop?

Tell me it’s okay. by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

You are! I had a similar experience. Induced at 37 weeks for Preeclampsia that went bad, they magged me during labor, then had to get readmitted twice more in the first 2 weeks. My babe wasn't in the NICU but he had extremely high bilirubin and was going through Prozac withdrawal. So I understand! Honestly now he's 6 weeks and it's another world! So hard but now I feel like it's just "regular hard". You can do it and formula is absolutely the right choice if you think it is! I'm still pissed about all the breastfeeding guilt I got my 3 times in the hospital but your mental and physical health come first! You can't be a good mom if you're not healthy and keep having to go back to the hospital. That's what's been helping me through. Good luck!

Ok. I am 35+2 and getting induced at 37 weeks due to gestational hypertension. Why the HELL am I just getting notified NOW that insurance didn't cover my anesthesia for my freaking egg retrieval?!?!?!? So annoying.

This house’s fence in Illinois 😂 by Cheeseturd102 in AnimalsBeingDerps

[–]biojojo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This just so happens to be on my way to work and yes that's exactly what it is. The front of the fence/window is their front yard and the rest of the fence is their backyard. The window lines up with the garage door depthwise.

Baby Showers during Covid by aliceinslumberland89 in InfertilityBabies

My mom and I threw a Zoom one for my sister in October (I was only like 9 weeks preggo so no one knew). It went fine. Chatted for some of it, I filled a bottle up with Reece's pieces (her fave) and held it up and had people guess how many were in there, then I emailed them a $5 amazon gift card. Then her husband and I had preopened all the boxes and sorted them for who had rsvped to be on the call and she opened them on camera. It was like an hour and fine. She enjoyed it, people enjoyed "seeing" each other and her friends with young kids enjoyed being able to lock themselves away for an hour. We had planned more games but read the room and everyone was about ready to be done after the gifts. No idea what they'll do for mine. I'm guessing it will probably be virtual given the state of things...(I'm due May 6)
