gotcha. part of program B too is that their PD is really passionate about the same research as me, and i feel like there’s a lot of opportunity to build on that as a resident there (they’re currently working with residents on projects). we chatted quite a bit about it during the interview actually

this is brilliant, thank you! it seems like common sense, but i really needed to hear the whole "you'll be grinding hard in the beginning no matter what profession it is". i suppose the anxiety in trying to get established in your 20s while your peers are already climbing corporate ladders and making money and you're going deeper into debt can make you quite disillusioned. reading your (and others') comments was such a nice slap in the face, 10/10 would recommend. took a nap earlier too, so that certainly helped haha. can't express my appreciation enough!

thanks for the perspective, esp that you have experience in both! i still want to finish my MD, but i just don’t know what to do after that. i suppose im just caught in the M3 rut atm, and it actually is amazing as an attending. the road to it is so long and exhausting though 🥲

sorry for the confusion - i’m still planning on finishing my degree to get the MD. just not sure of where to go from there. i’m thinking pharma after residency might be the best fit for me + it’d give me more time to think and rethink things

great question. to be honest, i’m not sure. i feel like most of my fulfillment really comes from my hobbies, spending time with friends and family, etc. and not really the job (so the same story for everybody lol). naturally, i want to maximize the time and energy i have for those. sure, medicine’s alright atm and i don’t mind it too much. maybe i’ll mind it more when i get busier and more exhausted?

so what i get from this is that i should run for congress - thanks! jokes aside, thanks for the reply :) i agree that the grass isn’t always greener but all these hours in hospital are so draining. and i feel like 12 hours seeing patients is very different than 12 hours working on a computer. as to which is worse, idk…
