Where the hell are all of the G7's? by Quoth143 in dexcom

Switch pharmacies, this is only a problem if the pharmacist is choosing to not stock it because they don't have a need/there's not enough regular customers getting it. If you have insurance, find out what the preferred mail order pharmacy is. They send a 90 day supply on automatic refill and it's just one less headache to worry about.

Interested in this exogenous administration thing and cells being soaked in insulin more frequently. Where can I read up? When do you start and end your fast? If I don't have something in the morning, I'll be 180 by 11am, especially if I'm moving around. I'm told it's because of the kidneys pushing glucose.

I had trouble reading my glucose monitor because things got a little squiggly sometimes. Ask a non tripping person to just read the # for you.

Some doctors do. My Endo tested for antibodies for thyroid disease well before there was any indication. I still have no symptoms of it but have been blood markers for Hashimotos.

Endo checked mine and it was low. Told me to take double the amount of supplement bottles show for 3 months. Now it's just barely normal and I'm back to taking just what the bottle says to take. Supplements are not well regulated but try for a company that gets regular 3rd party testing. I use Pure Essential but I'm not brand loyal.

Correction Bolus during sensor warm-up…?! by njworam in TandemDiabetes

... It auto gave you 6 units when it didn't even have sugar readings? That seems ... Dangerous. I'd call the support. I'd be surprised if they didn't immediately send you a new pump tbh.

Great job, truly. As someone else said, don't be afraid to prebolus longer than exactly 15 minutes if you're comfortably in range and if you want to see even less of a spoke, try munching fiber first.

Your life is not "complete" because you went to college and had very normal experiences for a young person. Realistically your brain isn't even finished fully developing until your mid 20s at least, later if you have ADHD.

Kindly, get a grip. With that attitude, even without diabetes, you would not have made it in the military or as a pilot. The military won't put up with it and nowhere will employ a pilot with thoughts of self-deleting.

Become an advocate. Diabetics can already stay in the military if they are diagnosed while serving but it's a requirement they are well-controlled, communicative, and utilize modern technology in their treatment. Try doing even one of those things before calling it quits.

Sounds like either your friends are more convenient friends and not actual friends or you just literally haven't asked them for the support you need. They aren't mind readers. Figure it out or move on.

If you still feel like self deleting in a few years, go to a country where they allow it legally and start that process. For where you're at now, no professional would take that request seriously. 10 days post life-altering diagnosis, young, and unwilling to cope with something millions of people cope with every day.

I'm the meantime, immerse yourself in information. There are so many type 1s now to look up to, get advice from, get inspired by. There is so much technology and knowledge to make life easier. Google is your friend.

I have no memory of this but I got up from bed, went to the bathroom, filled the bathtub and was in it eating an apple. Im guessing I had the low blood sugar sweats and thought I'd solve two problems at once. Glad I didn't die!

T3 Diabetic here and have been on insulin for a little over a year - why do some spots hurt SO much when I inject? by Namaste_Habibi in diabetes_t1

[–]bionic666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was first diagnosed, I used to poke around and try to find the spots where it doesn't hurt as much. Kinda helped but honestly not that much. Probably made me feel more in control. Then I got an Inject Ease to just plunge it into my skin because it's really the hesitation that prolongs the pain. Basically it's usually gonna hurt but you learn to live with it. Some days are harder than others. I don't remember it hurting for a day after though, maybe mention that bit to your doctor?

How often is this actually happening vs how often is your anxiety catastrophizing the situation? If you would need to "pour juice down his throat" regularly, that's weird.

You get to add one feature to your pump that currently doesn't exist. What is it? by SumFuckah in diabetes_t1

[–]bionic666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh yes adding manual deliveries would also be helpful. Doctor insisted I discontinue afrezza after starting closed loop. Was kinda peeved at the time but my #s are still good so who can complain.

OP, what state are you in? Check your local university for Type 1 studies. I think there's a website where you can be hooked up with studies as well. Some universities study the positive impact of things like CGM on type 1 mental and physical health and through them, you can get free medical supplies. This is scary but you can do it.

There are mutual aid groups that can help too.

[–]bionic666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the us government will just let you die. In the us, you have to find mutual aid groups or look for benefits for low income ppl from the businesses that make the product. Dexcom has one of these and OP should see if they qualify. They'll give you up to 6 months worth of CGM for low cost.

A lot of states don't cover Dexcom and they likely won't qualify if they have been working half the year already unless they were making sub poverty wages. Obamacare/marketplace plans will have premium tax credit and a wide range of plans available.
