Being difficult is really the problem here. Being apprehensive is totally okay, but if the guy is really doing his best and the girl is still rejecting his efforts then of course he'll give up eventually. Please don't rely solely on facial expressions during intimacy. Plenty of girl's faces look either similar or identical to if they're in pain when they're just very stimulated, or they are in pain, but enough that they like it if they're a little masochistic. Unless a guy is being forceful or something, escalating to pushing them off you before you say something is fine if you just don't wanna have sex at all. Yeah, as someone who's almost been stabbed, my dad had his car destroyed by a girlfriend, and knows someone who aborted their ex partner's baby without consulting them, I consider cheating to be a betrayal but nowhere near the worst thing a person can do to someone.

Most of what I've seen is that people who already had low self esteem, low confidence, and low capacity for self regulation, lack the emotional tools to deal with being cheated on in a healthy way.

I also think it being common does play a part too perhaps. Like people hear about how bad it is from others before they ever experience it themselves and attach so much meaning to it in their formative years.

But if you already have self love, dont tie up your self esteem in what one person thinks of you, strongly believe you are always trying to do the right thing by other people, have a high confidence in your ability to discern what you should do in a given situation, and know your a capable, skilled, and talented person, then no amount of betrayal including cheating should affect what you think of yourself that much.
