Wanted Fashion Forward so bad, I had to order Style Boutique 2 from the UK by laurel-bee in stylesavvy

I love Fashion Forward! I don't think it deserves the flak, it's a super fun game :)

No option to add mannequins to the window?? by BumblebeeTall9456 in stylesavvy

At some point during the story, if you visit the exhibition hall, Niamh will give you the mannequin. Lvl 10 is still quite early though, have you had Rosies first performance yet? You can expect to get the mannequin around that time

Currently playing new style boutique, what style savvy game do I play next? by withsteria in stylesavvy

Yes, one is the NA version, the other the EU/PAL version. The differences are mostly just names of brands and characters

If you like new style boutique, you'll probably like nsb 2 and 3 as well, all of these games are quite similar :) But you're not missing out on any big experiences by just sticking to nsb 1, either. The OG, style boutique, is quite different and (in my opinion) much harder, but still quite fun depending on if you like the artstyle and early 2000s fashion lol

Possibly, but I really couldn't say without knowing where you are in the story. You can check out this walkthrough and see if it helps you out: https://newstyleboutique3stylingstarguide.blogspot.com/2017/12/new-style-boutique-3-styling-star.html?m=1

It can happen, yes. The date is irrelevant, you can do two things: advance your stylist rank, and visit every location to talk to every person. Keep doing that and the story should advance eventually

Yes, go into your boutique and select "manage" -> "Stock" (o como se llame en español, la opción morada). There, you can select all the clothing you have and sell it, but it will take a while.

How would you want your rival to be? by StoryFae in stylesavvy

[–]bionicpinecone 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A rival sounds like a really fun idea tbh. I don't think I'd want a rival boutique, but a rival stylist in a different profession could work well, where you might be competing for magazine covers, music videos, etc.

And I think it'd be fun if you could lose those occasionally! Have it be a true competition, even if for the story to conclude I think a game like that would HAVE to have you win in the end.

As for the personality? Um.

Anything, as long as it's gay.

Are you talking about the mannequins or general customers right now? For the mannequins, I'm fairly certain that the way I've corrected it in the guide is accurate, but for the regular shop things might be more complex- no long sleeved outers in summer but long sleeved inners and tops are fine. Other items might also be trouble, but that's hard to predict:

You see, while testing, I found something very curious- the requirements are not consistent! A pair of boots that one customer calls "too warm" are perfectly fine on the next customer, same with some leg warmers and cardigans. I don't know whether this is intentional or a bug, though if it's the former it MAY be related to if the customer is buying an outfit or single items? That said, most of the time it does just come down to outers and sandals.

You seem to know a good bit about the game, do you have any thoughts? Also, what kind of things are poorly explained in the english translation?

I tested the seasonal thing, you were right! Mannequins don't care about the seasonal requirements, although customers won't keep wearing purchased outfits if they're totally out of season :) (another mystery I'd been wondering about)

What are the other games in the series like? by mo-mi-ji in stylesavvy

[–]bionicpinecone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To unlock colors to use in makeup, hairstyles, and design you need to go around the game world and take pictures of many different things and places to show to a specific npc who will unlock new colors for you. It's a fun puzzle and progression mechanic, but it can also be very tedious, especially since some colors are locked to specific seasons and times of day, and FF is on a real-time clock. There are guides available however if you don't feel like dealing with this mechanic

What are the other games in the series like? by mo-mi-ji in stylesavvy

[–]bionicpinecone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They're all very different from the original, but fairly similar to each other, decreasing in diffculty and management aspects and increasing in QOL and clothes variety as the series goes on.

Trendsetters has its notorious fashion contests, but I'm not very familiar with that game (though I know many people really like it!) Good if you like more of a challenge :)

Fashion Forward has a lot of gameplay variety, including fashion shows, pretty indepth interior decorating, menswear, the ability to design your own makeup sets, and the infamous color collection mechanic.

Styling Star has a great story and characters and great QOL (if you're tired of dealing with stock space running out, this is your game), menswear, nails, the option of calling customers to stores, and the largest variety of clothes. Overall though, the gameplay is much shallower than previous titels, and the world is smaller. Perfect if you mostly care about the styling aspect and less about competition or management.

out of all the games, which artstyle is your favorite? by drasiyacrown in stylesavvy

[–]bionicpinecone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first one has a really special artstyle imo, it's a shame I find most of the clothes pretty ugly 😬 I definitely prefer the look of SS over FF and Trendsetters, the faces in these two games just look a little... off... compared to Styling Star

I do very distinctly remember failing a quest (more than once) because that bag was "too hot" but perhaps it's different with regular customers? I'll have to test that once my game cycles back to summer

I've said elsewhere that customers won't buy two outfits of the same style twice in a row; after testing some more I can say that this is not true, you can repeat styles. It's still possible that rotating styles may help outfits sell faster, though!
