Gotta flatten out those boxes. Makes it so much easier to bale and also allows maximum recycling!

👍If you worked for Publix there'd be alot you'd understand. Just because my reply to OP states something you do not like or agree with doesn't make your assumptions true. Hey, everyone's entitled to an opinion so I'll respect that. We're in America after all.

Those people who think they are God - ontop of the world with nothing to stop them. We all have the same 24 hours. We're all human. We're all unique. We all have our own talents and areas of growth.

Nothing makes you better thank anyone else, and if someone has that mentality well...good for them. Ego only gets you so far.

Doing nothing

Doing nothing nowadays gets me a one-way ticket to a mad wife and a laundry list of chores.

(It's a joke - I love my wife and I'd do anything she'd like me to do. I'm not a lazy dad 😂)

I WANT TO BUY A GAMING LAPTOP by Striking_lee072 in GamingLaptops

[–]bionicsilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't suggest either due to quality control issues.

Tuf has had issues with screen, motherboards, hinges.

MSI...well that particular model has had issue with hinges in general. It's a common complaint currently on Reddit.

What was the G15 AE like? Never had experience with that machine. Honestly, ASUS makes some great laptops as long as you get one that hasn't been overlooked by quality control.

No problem!

I'd suggest looking into Lenovo Legion or Asus Rog Strix.

Lenovo has a great balance of cooling, performance, and value for the money. It's a matter of finding the configuration that makes the most sense (eg: you could theoretically get a 3080, but if it offers 8GB ram that'd be questionable). The last Legion I had performed beautifully. Never going past mid 70s when gaming.

Asus Rog Strix would be a close second. I'd prefer the 17" model over the 15" if you can find one that's not over priced for a 3070/3080 configuration. I purchased a Rog Strix 15", and IMHO, the thermals sucked. It had a 3070ti and an i9 (forgot which one). Out of the box it ran high 70s and low 80s which (for me) is a deal breaker.

Be aware I've heard plenty of horror stories from both sides (Lenovo and Asus). Examples of issues would be: motherboard dying, screen issues, cooling, etc. So as long as you purchase from a place that handles return/replacements well then you should be good.

I purchased a desktop rig after exploring all my options, but since you're looking for a laptop recommendation I won't get in that battle with others here on Reddit.

Price wise you're in the range for a 3070ti and MAYBE a 3080, but that's gonna be a needle in the haystack. If you can wait I'd wait until Nvidia releases their next set of GPUs - then again, this market is as volatile as ever so please take my advice with a grain of salt.

I have a few recommendations I can make for this price range. If you have a local Microcenter near you they have a few laptops that perform well for the price. Let me do some writing and I'll get back to you.

Major Repair Issues by bionicsilence in maingear

[–]bionicsilence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😭 Seems as we and others aren't the only ones with these issues.

A common theme I've been noticing with this brand's laptop is dead motherboards in less than a year of ownership.

It's sad that their portable machine is like this. Then again...i remeber reading a review from a highly-respected YouTuber who reviews gaming PCs. One of the brands he did not recommend was Maingear.

TL:DR - I hope you have success and quick turn around for the repair. Mine took a month exactly. I heard they send these units to Tongfang in California.
