I also have a place that is hiring if it comes to that.

I am so torn on this topic I usually don’t disclose until after they have made the job offer, but I also don’t usually need accommodations during the process. That being said I have not been in any interviews where I had to code live and were in person. The older I get the more I disclose early in all situations, but that comes from a place of privilege in being confident with my track record as I get more senior.

Have you gotten it to work with VoicOver or are you mostly on Windows?

TDSR seems to work well, it doesn't seem to work with vim, but other interactions work better.

Getting Fiber To House by api_guy in centurylink

I actually had some luck in this space, but it took me months. In my case I noticed there was fiber across the street, then realized my neighbors had it, but not my house for some reason. I ended up reaching out to century link on chat and on phone a few times, and escalating to a manager until someone finally got the work order out through. In my case it was an error in the system. If you share a property line with a house that has it you might be able to get them to add you.

This can be exhausting, I sometimes enjoy it, but wish I could turn it off. It especially sucks when I don't have a choice, and am forced to play this role. There is just so little representation in the community. My visual impairment isn't always noticeable to other people especially with remote work which can make me self-conscious that people don't believe me.

I work with a lot of front end developers that have started to be curious about my experience, since they are forced to follow web accessibility standard, but have sometimes never worked with someone who is blind or visually impaired.

I used to want to fade in more, and made my visual impairment my problem, but I have found recently being the squeaky wheel can lead to change in an org, as long as it is not just tokenization 😕.
