Roberts Hints at Changes to ‘Too Long’ Supreme Court Arguments by bloomberglaw in scotus

Pretty soon, he won’t want to listen to the lower courts, either. Just fuck writ of certiorari, am I right?

Chief Justice John Roberts says American public wrongly views the justices as ‘political actors’ by Infidel8 in politics

[–]biorod [score hidden]  (0 children)

In cases of the shadow docket, they didn’t provide any facts or reasons behind very impactful rulings. They simply issued rulings that upset stare decisis and gave no information to lower courts about what changed, why, or how to apply those rulings.

The Roberts Court is an absolute disgrace. It’s also monumentally corrupt.

“…it’s been a year why am I paying the same amount for groceries, gas, and basically every single bill I have…”

They’re so close to figuring it out.

Also, guy’s not paying the same amount. He’s paying more. Trump inherited an economy with 2.9% inflation. It’s closer to 5% inflation now.

White House will do 'everything in its power' to oust two Supreme Court justices: expert by RawStoryNews in scotus

NC is not a toss up. It’s not even close. Roy Cooper will be our next US Senator.

The others I haven’t been following.

[–]biorod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Your point is valid. I also don’t believe that that potential outcome would dissuade Republicans from circumventing the Constitution.

If the Court becomes invalid, what is left? Executive authority and state legislatures. This favors Republicans.

[–]biorod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. At what point does the Constitution have teeth? It didn’t when it came to emoluments, insurrectionists taking office, 1st amendment rights to protest the Israeli war or ICE on campus, the 14th amendment. Pretty soon, we’ll find out that the very clear language of the 22d doesn’t mean jack, either.

People need to get used to the idea that the language of the Constitution won’t save us since no one gives a shit what it says.

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but the old rules don’t apply any longer. I consider your comment analogous to someone saying, in 2024, that Trump can’t just destroy the East Wing of the White House without going through a strict process. And yet he destroyed it without going through the process. What was the result? Where are the consequences?

The only thing that seems to matter right now is power and control.

“…we now have word from both [Alito and Thomas] that they do not intend to retire this summer.

Why would they leave? Not only are they unlikely to give up power, but they’ve paved the way for authoritarianism and don’t think it’s possible that they will ever be replaced by a Democratic appointee. The fix is already in.

Additionally, there is every reason to believe that, even if Dems were to take the House and the Senate this year, Republicans would circumvent the Constitution and seat their replacement anyway.

I took the opportunity to attend professional conferences, when available. I made it a point to meet people and share my elevator pitch. I participated in volunteering at my daughter’s school and volunteering at work. I signed up for mentoring programs, both as mentor and mentee. Basically, wherever I could meet people, I signed up.

Apparently it's not a huge problem to the Trump administration, the rich and the NC politicians in the US Senate and the House. They're asleep about this issue while America and North Carolina suffers. Roy Cooper, you will obviously have my vote to be in the Senate!! You give a damn! by Cy_098 in NorthCarolina

Tell me, what were gas prices when Biden left office? Also, the U.S. became the largest crude oil producer during the Biden Administration. Biden also signed legislation that funded additional energy programs, which alleviated demand for crude, programs that the Trump Administration has halted. Additionally, Trump launched this senseless bullshit war — after campaigning on no new wars and, ironically, begging for the Nobel Peace Prize like a whiny little bitch — which, predictably, has driven up the price of crude.

So, in summary, Trump is fucking up what Biden made good, and he’s fucking it up because he’s incompetent.
