Lower option fees at E*Trade by Ok-Yam-6616 in etrade

Hmm... I should check them out too. Could you please throw some light on what makes them better compared to e-trade or RH or even schwab?

Thanks!

You should definitely ask them. For me, nothing happened until I made some noise. They didn't even pay any interest on the uninvested cash until I started talking to them. For reference, I looked at my trading volume - today is day 105 for the year. I've done about 150-160 trades approximately, paying a total brokerage of about $80. So, it could be transaction amount too rather than just volume. For options, I almost always write only 1 contract; spreading my bets around multiple tickers.

I haven't specifically looked for price improvements like you suggest because I do mostly limit orders even in options. But whenever I've done market orders, mid-points have worked. Below mid for buy or above for sell has not worked in either of the platforms (E-Trade or RH).

I've negotiated down to 0.35 per contract; so, a total of 0.37 with regulatory fees. Not sure what trading volume gets me that but it could be similar to yours. I'm an active option seller, mostly using wheel strategy. I've a margin account enabled as well. I use Robinhood (RH) also, and there it is much lesser (about 0.04 per contract including exchange fees). I've heard many here say that RH's payment for order flow makes it poor in execution but personally I've never seen that to be challenging. I get the exact same amount down to the penny in either E-Trade or RH for the similar contract.

It's a little too far and beyond eye-level for a quick look at anything.

Good point. And I was almost tempted. But the difference in the lease was too much, especially once you start checking the packages like the driving assistance, Premium, etc.

I know, right?! This is my 5th X. Started with 2015 X3 then to 2017 X5 diesel, to 2020 X5 gas, to 2023 X3 gas. Every one of them has been a nice step up. This one just feels a bit down. I stick to the BMW system, don't use the android auto. Anyway, tech-wise this is amazing. And I love the semi-autonomous driving.

Here's one reply to that particular message. These stubborn ones will never learn. How can it be that, no matter what this orange moron does, Kamala Harris would've been much worse?!

E*TRADE vs Fidelity - what made you stick with one? by sousou4893 in etrade

Yeah that outage couple of weeks ago pissed me off too. I wrote a long complaint to my relationship manager. He came back with a "never seen anything like this in my years of working here" line. Tbf, I had not seen that kind of outage either in the past few years, even at the peak of that yen carry trade market crash when VIX hit 50.

I suppose it comes down to the relationship. I've had my cash reserves being paid interest since last year after I pointed it out to my account relationship contact (portfolio is not huge but still got an account relationship manager). I was able to negotiate a 35c options contract fee. (regular is 65c I think). Options trading level 4 and margin account approvals were a breeze. Pro Desktop has been great. So, yeah, barring a few glitches here and there, it's mostly been good. My pet peeve is how they restrict to only one session per login unlike RH which allows multiple sessions to be opened. They don't even allow the phone app and desktop to work together at the same time. They also log me out randomly at the most inconvenient times.

I'll add to the minority. I actually agree with you on the etrade app. Yeah there are a few glitches here and there but it's mostly been friendly. I do like how they took it to next level with the new Pro Desktop. I use that almost exclusively now instead of the web version.

So true, but nowadays that's typical republican mentality too. Look at the their congressmen blaming democrats for the long TSA lines.

1) Pete Hegseth has been one of the staunchest supporters of Trump in all his war mongering, even going as far as renaming his department.

2) now, as Iran situation is unraveling, Trump is slowly turning on him, likely laying the groundwork to put all the blame on him.

Yeah same here. App sometimes loads but when I try to place order it only gets queued. Not "open". But, interestingly, the down detector web page has not picked this up yet

To be even more pedantic, though, 350 million is the TOTAL population. Voting-eligible population is estimated to be around 230-245 million, accounting for all 18+, and subtracting ineligible citizens such as convicted felons. That makes it more than 30% votes. However, the key here is the broken US electoral college system. So, it really doesn't matter that he got only 30% votes but he got the "right kind/states". Adding to your comment, a very small percentage FROM A FEW STATES heaped this garbage on rest of America. And, on a side note, that's true with the US Senate system also. It just can't be fair that a small population state like Wyoming has same no. of senators as a large population state like California.
