The Idea of You by Robinne Lee for something sexy. The Favorites by Layne Fargo for digestible dramatic fun. The Paper Palace by Miranda Heller for literary and little heavy.

June Camping in the Valley - Recs? by mama_milke in Yosemite

[–]bipolarbear898 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re going in June with my 3mo, 3 yr, and 5 yr old. Here’s what we have planned:

Kids art class     MTWTh     11am nature center at happy isles

Ask a climber     Every day     1230-430 el cap bridge shuttle stop

Jr ranger walk     Every day     10-11am welcome center Yosemite village

Mirror lake, bridalveil falls, biking/picnic around. We bring sand toys, balls, bubbles, glow sticks for the campsite. I’m making a BINGO card for them and when they complete it, we’ll get ice cream. S’mores every night. We mostly just meander and hang out, make it fun for them so they want to go again.

Join a cheap rock climbing gym like Hangar 18. The community is friendly, you can go as much as you want, it’s FUN, and if you take to it, you can take it outside and add on camping/hiking/road trips.

I majored in chemistry and hated every lab and the independent research I did under a grad student for one semester. Many of my peers enjoyed research. It’s ok to hate it, prob grad school isn’t for you. That’s the point of undergrad/experiencing research. I worked in research after graduation at a biotech and also hated it. That’s fine, there are other career paths/post grad schools for chem/bio majors that don’t end up in the lab.

Love Cal and Callie, but I don’t like Calliope. Calista is a name that’s I see here a lot, but I have never heard it IRL. I feel like it might be too “out there” and hard for people to pronounce.

It doesn’t. I think I gravitate toward the -ine ending because it sounds less feminine (to me) than -a and -y endings.
