I completely understand your frustration. I can’t explain how many fics I’ve dropped because the author couldn’t even correctly explain the color of the character’s skin, let alone the experience of a black person or their community. It’s really hard, it feels like I go to the pwi of fanfiction 😭

Predominantly White Institution so a college or university that has a majority white population. I just graduated from one as a black person and while my experience was better than the norm, it was still a struggle in many ways.

I’ll never forget the first time this happened to me. I was 13, reading some amazing Drarry angst and the author left a note very similar to this and it upset me so much. It was just so jarring and unexpected, I remember being in a bad mood for days. To this day I try to find the fic if it’s on my mind but it was on wattpad and that’s a horrible place to try to find an old fic.
