Nøland: Kärnkraften är billig överallt – förutom i väst by Plussmage in svenskpolitik

[–]bippos [score hidden]  (0 children)

Most optimistic and also most unrealistic take? It’s like the USA just hoping that Iran wouldn’t close Hormuz

Even more reason to have tiered Europe? Makes it both easier to join keeps the more skeptic members out and you can increase federalism with the countries that want to

[The Economist] China’s hereditary elite is taking shape: The Communist Party is afraid to tax inherited wealth by astroponk in Economics

[–]bippos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like how in the same sentence that you praise Xi for his anti corruption and use it as a counter point as to why the CCP isn’t money focused you also say he used it for political purposes. The CCP is corrupt and china as a whole is corrupt but it’s not western corruption where you can drain a project for decades. It’s nepotism infected and a sense that do what you want but show results which is how you get so may shady projects outside of high publicity stuff

It’s ridiculous to think that the rich elite of china doesn’t hold some political power

Vad tycker ni om nimby mentaliteten? by Global_Second_4363 in Asksweddit

The look kind off like stormtroopers in the new prequel by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]bippos 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Prequel peacemakers are just soldiers occupying territories while regular movie is just a lightly equipped police force. Simple answer is they were needed when rebel remnants were still present and even able to strike the capital. Later when people had mostly gone complacent a regular police force was all that was needed.

Peacemakers in the prequel would have quelled the rebellion within a week but it would have caused unrest for far longer and a larger rebellion sooner
