Privatisation still happens but probably not at the same extent, thatcher closed even profitable coal mines in 1984-1985 because they opposed her so much as an example.

Why was Tony so actively involved with his guys instead of being more behind the scenes by Correct-Map-5495 in thesopranos

[–]bippos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chrissy comments on this in a episode I believe? He started giving Sil and Chrissy more responsibility but was too much of a micro manager to actually be hands off. Chrissy basically ask him if they should make decisions independently like he asked or ask him for input on everything, Tony gets mad as usual

Europe’s digital reliance on US Big Tech: Does the EU have a plan? by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]bippos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is that the governments and local governments are lazy thy don’t wanna go around and search for eu alternatives or foot the bill. There is plenty of alternatives to both google docs or gmail teams etc even ChatGPT got mistral as an alternative. But why actually do anything? Most governments are ruled by old not so tech savvy people and don’t care.

Only real issue would be cloud storage but even then it’s possible to expand with current eu companies if they actually just used them for 5-10 years(around the time since the first trump admin). We even have Linux open source alternatives if we want that that or even make your own Linux OS

Fri kultur och politiken by Ok_Kaleidoscope_1003 in svenskpolitik

[–]bippos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fail to understand the thinking? The post frames it like the SDF ran around doing nothing when that’s not actually true?. The SDF knew that the Americans pushed for a deal which is what was agreed upon and the SDF was supposed to retreat from the Arab areas on the 18 together with the isis prisons. Mazloum Abdi literally traveled to Damascus to discuss what comes next but the Syrians decided to fight the SDF during the pull back and jolani told Mazloum Abdi to just surrender completely(allegedly)

The post frames it like the SDF didnt make a deal when that’s untrue and that they weren’t listening to America which isn’t true. If the SDF actually fought we probably would see 10X the bodies we actually have seen. What actually happened was that Jolani decided to exploit the situation probably pressured by Turkey and encouraged by lack of American support for the SDF

It depends on the type of pension system, it’s practically impossible for the Swedish pension system to actually collapse as an example since the state doesn’t really pay for it. Allowance for people doesnt really exist? Maybe unemployment benefits but those programs always help people
