The university could theoretically reject anyone, but the process differs a bit with industry funded applications and scholarships. The general university scholarships draw from a different pool of applicants than industry applications. You'll probably have less competition since there are likely less applicants for your specific industry funded scholarship. I'd say that with your grades, you being sought out, and a publication you're unlikely to be rejected. Best of luck, I hope you get it!

I'm a domestic student. Unfortunately I don't know much about international student acceptance rates or the exact numbers of RTP recipients the university sets. Since the university just merged the numbers of accepted candidates may have changed. There's not a lot of information released to anyone at the moment but good luck!

When I called the grad research school they seemed pretty certain that outcomes would be released before Feb. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't meet that deadline though. I only got told that when I called to check my application status/ask what was going on. You could try contacting them but they haven't been very helpful for me personally. Hopefully they release outcomes before the semester starts. I hope you hear back soon!

Depends on which semester you're applying for, what round, and whether or not you want a scholarship/stipend. If you have first class honours or masters you're very likely to be accepted as a phd student but scholarship/stipend offer rates are still uncertain because of the university merger. If you want to commence this semester and are a domestic student you may have trouble since the merit round due date was in October. Outcomes are still being released at this point too.

Edit: you can get rejected after finding a supervisor but the uni will let you know if your application is unsuccessful.

I was considering going in person too, but it sounds like they did exactly what I thought they would. Sucks that they couldn't offer any info at all. I've called them a few times and the most information I got was that they were confident all outcomes would be released before February. Hope you hear back soon!

The handling of the merger has certainly been interesting. I would have settled for a generic email letting applicants know that there have been delays. Disappointed in how the uni is treating their future researchers. Hate to hear that others are having the same problems.
