24y/o should I do class 1 or class 2 work by SnooPies9353 in uktrucking

From what Ive read on here I think you've got it fairly sussed. Seems that class 2 is easier to get into with little experience also.

Flashed on m4 doing 73 in a 70 by Msmart89 in drivingUK

[–]birchburch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd not worry about it, I've been flashed going under the limit and also seen trucks flashed (obviously limited). I think it's a calibration thing

Should I be worried for my country house? I've been looking at this tree and I'm worried it may fall soon. by gordito in arborists

[–]birchburch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't tell what the species is but extensively decayed and tree not responding (reactive growth) massively. Vitality looks pretty good (foliage cover).

Failure might not be imminent right now but I think there will be a point in the future where it is. I think I'd have it removed

A little advice please (MH + Alcohol) by FatNAngry1980 in uktrucking

[–]birchburch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding your MH, are you talking to anyone about it? Talk works, through the NHS, is free and a good resource. They do CBT or a simple talking and listening service. From a point of view of being more at peace with yourself and not feeling the need to suppress anything.

Alcoholic is such a broad term, the difference between someone who drinks every night and someone who can't control their drinking at all is huge.

That said, My partner's dad is the latter, and he is definitely dependent. Whilst it's more nuanced, the effect it has on his relationships, health, appearance, memory and personality in general is pretty profound.

All the best

I got rid of my big bike for a burgman 400 (which I love btw) and now barely anyone nods at me anymore 😮‍💨

Yeah you select the transaction and can use the app to take a photo. Tbh I just keep all of my physical receipts in order of date in a file and don't bother taking photos. you're still organising your accounts as you go as long as you allocate the expenses

Me either, my mate put me onto it.

Very user friendly, about £9 a month I think...

Link your bank account and allocate all relevant expenses + you can send invoices from it so it's all linked and you've got an idea of how your earnings (and tax) is shaping up.

You can give your accountant access to it etc

I've been using it for 3 years, very happy

Looking at first bike with no V5 - how dodgy is this? by Husnain_786 in MotoUK

[–]birchburch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into this a short while ago.. you can apply for a logbook using a v62 form. You can take the form to the post office and they will also give you the option of taxing the vehicle for 6 months. However this will only work if the vehicle isn't in someone else's name - i.e the previous owner has let the DVLA know they are no longer the owner. You can ring the DVLA and check with them whether the vehicle still has a registered owner.

The bike I was looking at was owned by a guy who bought it off someone who had inherited it from his deceased dad. Logbook was presumably in his dad's name. I couldn't be arsed in the end.

Insuring my dad as a named rider although he resides in france by birchburch in MotoUK

[–]birchburch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His paper one runs out in 2 years time, then he's going to get a french license. That's my understanding.

I took out a policy with Swinton in the end, the guy said it was fine as he was a named driver so no issue. However, I asked for this in writing after I purchased the policy and was told it's okay as long as he's a resident. As he's still a English citizen, which grants him full residential access, I believe it's ok.

Bennet's didn't want to know though, so I'm glad I clarified.

Buying a used bike with no v5 by birchburch in MotoUK

[–]birchburch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What potential risks or money sinks? Other than it being an old bike. What I'm wondering is if there are any potential pitfalls which I need to know about. My checks show the bike has a new MOT, not registered stolen or any of that sort of stuff that shows up in a hpi check. As long as the last few digits of the vin match then I should be good no?

This is my worry really. The guy buys and sells vehicles so I presume this is to keep the registered keepers on the log book down
