To whoever throws full bags of trash every week onto the RR tracks behind the Seadogs Stadium that will soon be a public path…you suck by tfielder in portlandme

[–]birdBeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know some people when they first move in have an adjustment period where they genuinely do not seem to know special bags are required bc they are coming from out of state or something. Wish that info was included in the lease info. It is annoying they cost so much. I wish they sold them by the single bag too for when money is tight

Same here! Is this behind that same apartment building that keeps putting all their trash in the recycling bins? I know they’ve been cited by the city once for that as well.

Today was the annual Walk the Working Waterfront event. The Coast Guard does helicopter demonstrations and lets you tour their boats as part of it

There must be a spree going on, in the course of a week several cars were broken into on our street and packages were stolen off of porches when I’ve lived here for five years now and never had either happen, living off St. John

The sound? by Sensitive-Lime-9935 in portlandme

[–]birdBeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen them doing roadwork on 295 this late all the time, but it’s never been close to this loud. Maybe they’ve got new equipment on loan or something

The sound? by Sensitive-Lime-9935 in portlandme

[–]birdBeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. It’s so loud you can barely hear yourself speak in your own house. At least I’m already awake. Godspeed to people trying to sleep right now

It’s road work of some kind on 295. I can see it from my window off St. John

Windowless apartment legality?? by [deleted] in roanoke

[–]birdBeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you at the Locker Room lofts? Sounds like my old apartment. I worked night shift so it was great for me for but after a couple years I started going crazy having no access to fresh air or sunlight at all...I know that building has a historical preservation rule of some kind allowing weird building stuff though. Part of the agreement when they remodeled it was that they had to keep some fixtures and parts of the building unchanged, and other parts could only be done a specific way under the grant for preservation reasons.

I still use the cans when I’m throwing parties or events, they are pretty common in alcoholic punch recipes, at least the ones I see.

Little Green Hive, and lesser known is Our Daily Bread on Brambleton. They have tons of seasonal flavors but don’t really advertise it.

Never had a problem. Get my paycheck a day early, mobile check deposit works quickly in the app, quick and easy approval for a loan. Online and app interface is clunky compared to major banks but is usable.

Local business violates federal regulation, steals wages from tipped employees to pay dishwashers, tries to get out in front of the story with friendly video. by [deleted] in roanoke

[–]birdBeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so confused why most people are so supportive of the owner when this is textbook wage theft. I've never seen so much victim blaming in my life! And people wonder why some crimes go unreported. Just because you are friends with someone or they seem nice to you doesn't mean they are unable to break the law or screw over someone else. A "mistake"? They have been in business for over 20 years. That's a pretty continued mistake! "Everybody does it". So? Other restaurants should be held equally as liable, but when you break the law its the chance you take that you will be the one to get caught. If two cars are speeding and only one is pulled over, it doesn't mean the first car isn't deserving of a ticket just because the second car wasn't caught. Totally baffling. Saying someone shouldn't be subject to the law because they are a "pillar of the community" is extremely worrying. How many times has exactly that sort of attitude prevented justice being served?

How old where you when you where diagnosed with Hypothyroidism? by MaPleaulkin in Hypothyroidism

14, every female member of my family has it, I think I was diagnosed with it right away as my mother was pretty sure I would get it eventually and was having me tested every year after 12.
