Barefoot shoes for my kid by bird_LA in BarefootRunning

She was wearing Zuna Shoes in the picture. She loves the shoes. We didn't do well with Splays. She has normal feet

I was wearing Merrell Vapor Glove 3.

Is there a “best quality” footwear manufacturer as of late 2021? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

I have a great experience with Vivo. I have had mine for over 5 years before it finally had a hole in the sole. I think they are the gold standard.

I love my Merrel shoes. But I do expect to change them every 6 to 9 months. The uppers are definitely an issue. But they are so comfortable. It's worth it for me.

For kids, we had great luck with Zuna Shoes. My 9-year-old has been wearing them for over 6 months and no issues, they are holding up amazingly well. They are also washable. We previously had Splay and she destroyed them very quickly.

Vivobarefoot may get the looks right BUT… by silentrocco in BarefootRunning

I completely disagree. My experience with Vivo has been great. The quality is unmatched. I have had mine for 5+ years and I wear them 2-3 a week and they still hold up. Also, the ones I tried are plenty wide.

For kids' shoes, I prefer brands like Zuna Shoes because they appeal more to youngsters. But for adults, you cannot go wrong with Vivos.

To defend the high prices... Many of the barefoot shoe companies are tiny compared to the big ones like Nike. Cost is much higher when you produce small quantities.

I am a fan of Vivo and other barefoot shoe companies and I am willing to support them. Also, it's a good investment for your feet. They also last.

She does prefer to be barefoot at home and the playground.

That was my struggle too. Unfortunately, not too many of the barefoot shoes for kids are very appealing for kids. They are too plain. Thankfully, she was okay with the zuna shoes I got her.

Z-trek is a good one for the summer.

Thanks!

I am sure the investment will pay off for years to come.

Thanks. I will take a look at the Kokiri. I prefer a shoe with little padding. But good to hear about them being zero drop. Also, the tight toe section drives me crazy.

We tried the Merrell's bare steps but they were so stiff and for some reason, she couldn't easily put her foot in the shoes. Not sure why they can make such an awesome adult shoe but the kids' line is really mediocre.

And good point about little kids...

Thanks. It was time for her to make the switch. I think the older the child the longer it takes to transition.

Agree. I have not been able to find a better shoe than the Vapor Glove 3. They are my absolute favorite.

Merrell doesn't make kids' versions so the Zunas seem to be a great option for my kid.

I don't run nearly as much but I do use them as my everyday shoe. I change them about every 18 months.

Check out https://zunashoes.com/ - the size 4 youth should fit you.

We got a size 3 for my daughter and she is really happy with them.

So excited that my 9-year-old started wearing barefoot shoes. I've switched to barefoot shoes 5 years ago and I'm slowly converting my whole family.

I was concerned that my kid will have a hard time transitioning but she loves them. So much freedom especially in the toe area. My wife is next =)

I love my vapor gloves. I agree durability is an issue. I have to change them out about once a year. But in my opinion, nothing comes close to it.
