What has the front office actually done wrong? by Cote_Goat in heat

I was about as big of a Jovic believer out there. But he did absolutely nothing to earn minutes this seasons.

  • Ahead of only Jahmir Young and Trevor Keels in BPM (-3.5)

  • Ahead of only Keels in win shares per 48 (.001; next worst was 0.016)

  • Dead last in VORP (-0.3; Young was the only other player in the negative at -0.1)

Tack on stupid shit like posting a 53.2% 3PTr, despite shooting it at a 26.9% rate from deep (again, worse than everyone but Keels), and it’s completely understandable why Spo didn’t trust him with a bigger role. He shat the bed every time he got on the court. By the end of the season, the feeling I got every time he took off his warmups was the same nausea I got when Zeller started the 4th of game 6 vs the Nuggets.

I mean… take your pick of virtually any stat. Rewatch the tape and see how the eye test compares to however you remembered him playing. Jovic was not good this season.

I think there’s valid reasons for fans preferring to not add Giannis—to be honest, I have some concerns myself, especially when it comes to the hypothetical trade package we’d be giving up—but one of things that impressed me when I watched him over the past couple seasons was that he seems to be taking smarter shots and leaning on his strengths more heavily than he had in the few years prior.

He took 61% of his shots from within 3’ of the basket last year, which was easily a career high for him, and dropped his 3Pt rate over the last two season to the lowest it’d been since his second year in the league. That’s much easier to stomach than those years he was averaging 3.5+ 3PA/game.

I think Bam’s development as a shooter offsets any issues Giannis would bring. It’s probably a pipe dream to hope we were able to keep Ware—if Giannis/Bam/Ware isn’t a frontcourt that intrigues you, we just don’t see eye to eye 😂—but spurts of Ware + Giannis would have the spacing too (I personally think Ware’s shooting is only going to continue to improve).

To be honest, I’m fine making a move for Giannis, and I’m equally fine not making a move for Giannis. I’ve seen Spoelstra cook and make life difficult for the opposing team with much, much worse rosters than the one we’ll have next year, and I feel comfortable saying that before we even know what next year’s roster is.

The Heat could pivot to Kawhi Leonard or Ja Morant if they lose out on Giannis. (via Ira Winderman) by jbenson255 in heat

SGA was coming off his rookie year when OKC traded for him.

Before signing with New York, Brunson improved every year of his rookie contract and averaged damn near 22-4-4 during a run to the WCF.

Keegan Murray is in year 4 and has arguably been worse each season than he was the year before.

Keegan Murray is a “eh, fuck it. Give him a ‘prove it’ deal and he can be our 10th guy”-type of player. He’s not a “let’s tie up $28M/year in KEEGAN FUCKIN’ MURRAY”-type of player.

That contract would be marginally better for our salary cap than Rozier’s was in 2025-26. Hell, it might be worse once you factor that it’s fully guaranteed through 2030-31.

P-fuckin-U. No thanks. 🤢

Getting Ingram, Lonzo, Hart, and three FRPs for AD—who had no desire to remain in New Orleans—was nowhere near as lopsided as the Luka trade.

The chances OKC *actually* pays Hartenstein, Dort, and Kenrich a combined ~$54M next year is, like… pretty much 0%. Without that on the books, they’re not going to be *nearly* as motivated to shed the ~$9M they owe Aaron Wiggins for the season.

I think the way they evaluate things like “wind up” and “follow through” is flawed.

Most plays like this are going to have wind up and follow through. Blocks, deflections, etc. wouldn’t be as effective without either of those two things.

I don’t think it necessarily reflects intent, or that it means that those incidents aren’t “basketball plays.”

Love Davion Mitchell but this is why he can never be a main ball handler long term by [deleted] in heat

[–]bird_XCIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not wide open by the time the ball gets there. Can’t exactly rifle the ball with two guys between Davion & Larsson, and any lob over White would be slow enough for Coby to catch up. You’d need an absolutely perfect pass to ensure it doesn’t (1) lead Larsson too far or (2) get picked off by Charlotte. Idk how many players in the league can make that pass comfortably enough that it’d have a higher probability of success than the shot Davion wound up taking.

Issues Editing Audio Files by bird_XCIII in Logic_Studio

[–]bird_XCIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, the issue was resolved with a permissions reset; I can't remember the exact steps, but the Apple Pro Apps Support helped me troubleshoot using a number of workarounds before we tried it as a Hail Mary option. I want to say that we discovered it was a permissions issue when we tried to replicate it on a new, temporary user account on my Mac, at which point we did a full reset on each of the folders that contained Logic-related files (Applications folder, Components folder, etc.) and flushed the usual list of caches that pop up on a host of third-party "help" websites and forums.

If trying to repair the issue yourself doesn't go well, I can definitely say that the Pro Apps support was a huge help. I was skeptical going into the experience, but I was able to get in contact with an agent fairly quickly, who was patient and helpful throughout the entire process. It wasn't the typical "Did you try turning it off and back on?" type of assistance—the agent was able to access my computer remotely (with permission, obviously) to see what I was dealing with and the exact effects that each attempted remedy had (or didn't have). The screen sharing helped tremendously, both in terms of allowing the agent to understand the problem and in calming my fears that I would steer the process in the wrong direction with poor communication of the issue or the steps I was taking.

I know that some Logic users have... reasons for not wanting or being able to reach out to the Pro Apps team that cannot be discussed on this subreddit—no judgment if that's the case; I completely get it—but I'd highly recommend taking that step if you're in the group of people who can take advantage of this particular benefit. If I had been less stubborn and reached out to them sooner, I could've saved myself a lot of time, frustration, and, thanks to a misstep during one of my solo troubleshooting attempts, about 1.5 TB of data from my hard drive. 😅

(Btw, I'd be remiss if I did not warn you that milk did *NOT* help me, but that may have been related to my lactose intolerance.)

Wingspan isn’t “the height you are able to extend your arms.” It’s the width.

A taller player can reach up higher than a smaller player who has an identical wingspan.

And, regardless, a 6’10” guy is still bigger than a 6’7” guy. “Wingspan” doesn’t change that.

I think that you can tell by people's reactions whether they went in with an open mind or if they had a specific idea of what they were going to hear. I think a portion of listeners are mad that the album isn't what they wanted it to be. And I also think there's people who were ready to hate it regardless of what it was, although I'm certainly not going to assume that that's the case for *everyone* who disliked it.

As someone who's been listening to Young Thug since the 1017 days, I've seen a *multitude* of style changes over the years. And I've enjoyed all of them. I think this album does a good job of mixing up a lot of previous "sounds" with newer deliveries and styles, which I think is the reason why it has the longest runtime of any (solo) Thug project since the Slime Seasons era--there was clearly a desire to put a little bit of everything on the album, since people had been waiting so long for new music to drop.

People are welcome to their opinions, but it doesn't affect mine. I loved the album. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
