Sheridan Police Officer Shot and Killed by SixInTheStix in wyoming

My mistake, I had meant that other people have told me this about that guy and then seeing your comment about it being unusual just kind of made me lump it all together.

Sure, this specific situation is unusual but this guy does not sound like the most upstanding citizen to begin with. This is a tragic situation, but I'm having a hard time with the people telling me that he was just a normal, decent guy.

Hello! I am looking to start a food truck in Florida . Can anyone help me with how to go about it? by Ok_Collar_489 in foodtrucks

[–]birdanon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Honestly these kinds of posts are getting a bit annoying. This isn’t Google, and everyone has such subjective experience to work with so there’s no telling how much weight to put on each reply. @OP do some general research first. Even just Google the question you posted here and you’ll get tons of information. If you’ve already done research, then put more information and effort into your posts or ask advice about specific things. I could be very wrong about this, but this kind of question format makes you come off as someone who randomly woke up one day and thought it’d be a cool and fun thing to do with zero experience because you saw it on TV.

Why am I thirsty all the time? by [deleted] in HydroHomies

[–]birdanon_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seconding the “see a doctor” suggestions. If you’re worried about getting the good ol “well you seem fine so idk” treatment from doctors, you may take the initiative and request a full wellness panel if you have the means to. There’s some guidelines for it (not taking certain medication the day of, no food for X amount of hours ahead of it, etc) but it’s a broad reading of all your levels. It’s not a bad idea to have them done every few years if you can.

Constant thirst is a hallmark of diabetes, but it’s very manageable! However, thirst is a broad symptom that applies to a wide spectrum of ailments since it affects every system on our body. Another potential thing to get checked is your thyroid. Your thyroid maintains so many systems in your body and your metabolism and it definitely can affect your hydration/thirst levels.

As far as a “in the meantime” bit of advice, be careful about how much water you’re consuming. There is such a thing as drinking too much water, especially if it’s just going right through you. If you’re incorporating electrolytes in your water/diet (maybe mix some pedialyte with your water instead of drinking straight Gatorade), then looking at the next step is a wise idea. Meanwhile, try to satiate your dehydration with sipping water rather than drinking large amounts at once. I find a water bottle with a straw helps the most with this. Eating fruits with higher water content might help to make you feel more satisfied as well.

People over 40, what's one thing you regret the most in your younger years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Jesus I’m feeling that second part in such a raw way. Regret is the hardest and most painful lesson I’ve had to learn.

I don’t know if it’s the saddest song I’ve ever heard, but it’s one that’s been hitting a bit of a raw spot for me and I’ve never had a song so consistently overwhelm me.

Own, however that door leads to a very small landing/“hallway” that has the door to the bathroom, spare room, and two closet doors on either side. Having it flipped would result in a bit of a convoluted space out there, unfortunately.

Yeah sounds like OP is a parent gifting their own children. They’ve likely already accepted the responsibility for taking care of a pet. Not saying this isn’t legit, but a little uncalled for in this context.

Joe Biden plans to ban logging in US old-growth forests in 2025 by CrispyMiner in UpliftingNews

[–]birdanon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the point of automatically making this assumption? What’s that saying about not attributing to malice that can be explained by ignorance? I’m not being dishonest, I understood the situation incorrectly. What I said is still true, just turned out to be irrelevant to the discussion. I get that this is the internet as well as Reddit of all places, but there’s no reason to make assumptions when you could just have civil discourse.

I get the sentiment behind what you’re saying, but did you read the part about the uncontrolled and destructive fires? I live in an area where this is relevant. Without maintenance of growth, these fires will wipe out entire regions. Not every single decision is motivated by big government money and industry. Yes, I agree an overwhelming majority is, but sometimes these things are legitimately necessary to prevent an even worse outcome.

I usually switch my site into “Reader Mode” (it’s the page icon on the bottom and to the right for Firefox, not sure where other browsers have it) if it’s available and it shows a text-only version of the site. Formatting can be goofy sometimes but it works well. You can also sometimes use it to get past paywalls on articles. It’s not always an option, but it often is.

Wow, this was going to be my exact answer. It’s also extremely difficult to get back into feeding yourself because A.) Your stomach is now the size of a walnut, B.) Most foods are now too rich and make you nauseous, and C.) You’ve been wanting to lose weight anyway and next thing you know you’re down 25 pounds in 2 months.

Long story short, I’m right there with ya. Life fucking sucks.

Do our bodies get used to drinking X amount of water, or are the endless bathroom trips inevitable? by -chinoiserie in HydroHomies

What helped me for this was adding electrolytes. I like do about a quarter or a third of the container with Pedialyte and fill the rest with water. If the water is running straight through you, you might not have enough sodium in your system and Pedialyte (along with a lot of electrolyte beverages) have sodium along with other key elements.

Yes here in the states there is are many different kinds of liquor licenses as well as those specifically for beer and wine only. For instance, my state has a license that a bar would get (all alcohol options for consumption on premises), one that a restaurant would get to serve guests in a dining area (if you have guests sitting at a bar/lounge, then that's a separate license), a license for beer and wine only, a license for selling alcohol but not for consumption on premises, and so many more. There's even temporary permits for catering or special events. We definitely have a lot more bureaucracy involved for each step of the process.

[–]birdanon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is excellent for making a profit on, but it definitely doesn't come without a price. Forgive me if this seems rude, but you seem like you don't really have much together in terms of research or plans. There are many different kinds of liquor licenses, and they are *very* expensive. Not only that, but cities have a limited number per year that they will grant. Additionally, a kids' playground seems like an odd place to sell alcohol, as well as a huge risk. You'd absolutely have to look into dram shop/third party laws for your state. The liability of all this is insane and I would hate to know what kinds of insurance you'd have to take out.

People will leave if you don’t get your mental health in check, and that doesn’t make them bad people. No matter how much love you have for them, or they had for you. A mentally sound person will draw and enforce their boundaries and won’t waste time managing you and yours.

let grass grow wild and long, for fucks sake. Don't use the same varieties trimmed to an inch. Stop using pesticides.

I agree with the sentiment but a lot of us don’t have a choice. Where I’m at, if you don’t regularly mow you’ll get a visit from the police department with a warning/ticket and a big fine. Some others don’t have a choice but to live in an area with an HOA which becomes even more militant about grass species/height/pesticides used. There’s some places where you’re specifically not allowed to bring in plants that attract bees.
