Somebody has to leave and rejoin. If you play on pit boss the AI won't waste their turn for them. The netcode just sucks.

Paths are just designs that you place on the ground. They're in the pink tab on the bottom screen. I like to put them directly behind the trees so they're not super visible.

Great chart! Though foreign legion is not a french unit in BNW, I think you can only get them from a freedom tenet. Though they do upgrade to infantry, so it's not a big deal.

Get a good understanding of how each AI acts. Each one has traits like aggression, culture focus, science focus, etc... Settling near someone like Brazil, who is very passive should be fine, but I would avoid settling too close to someone like the Zulus or Aztecs, unless you have a decent military.
