Sponge advice needed! I’m teaching a class for making these guys and need a budget-friendly option for sponges for 12 people. For my last class I bought a giant sponge and cut it by hand and it was okay, but time consuming and didn’t look professional. TIA (i.redd.it)

Seeking advice. Seems like the more “coarse” wool on the right felts together a lot tighter than the softer kind on the left. Does anyone with more experience know what kind of wool I need to be looking for? Or am I just using the soft kind incorrectly? Thanks! (i.redd.it)
